I believe my doctors are lying about me having to take warfarin for life. One doctor in the group practice became annoyed when I came in and told them what I wanted done if they found a blood clot in my leg. A tech did a FIVE MINUTE doppler, and claimed to have found a dvt. I am a nurse, I felt the clot was superficial and NOT in the deep vein. This inexperienced tech who looked as though she was still in high school, claimed it was an "extensive clot" from my knee to my groin. I knew right away that she was reading the doppler incorrectly, and told her that she was looking at old scar tissue from a previous clot. I was asked not to leave the facility because they wanted to put me in the hospital on heparin for a week. I refused, walked out and went back to my doctors office, and told him what I knew. They all tried to cover up the test results, just so I would go into the hospital, and bilk my husbands insurance. I wanted a prescription for lmwh (lovenox) to give myself injections at home which is cheaper. Conclusion: hospital stay for 7 days on heparin, between 5,000-8,000 dollars. Outpatient injections at home 910.00. I refused to be intimidated and 'frightened into doing what they wanted to do. I gave myself the injections at home and in 2 weeks the pain and swelling were gone. I ditched both doctors, and now seeking an alternative doctor who can get me off of this dreaded warfarin. If anyone out there can help me out, please email me. willowbaby_1@yahoo.com.
