It's all about what God is...LOVE.......God is not "Behavior".

A car is an INANIMATE object (thing), only animate objects/characters can be loved (that is the issue here,...LOVE, since God is LOVE, that is the issue to be focused on).

Even when a person has a special 'souped up' car (hot rod), they can only 'pretend' to 'love' it (they CAN 'like' being the owner, they can "like" the color, etc.), they can treat it with 'Tender loving care' and be aware that it reacts to that TLC by operating properly, but the car really cannot return any affection.

There are 'rules' to be followed for the car's proper operation and maintenance, but God has all of His "proper operation and maintenance" all taken care of by Himself, He does not need our help, assistance, nor does He need/want us to dictate to Him with our 'wise counsel' (we have the bad habit to 'advise' Him how to be gracious and what we should have in 'prayer', we have many bad attitudes).

We are taught many attitudes toward God that are patronizing and condescending. God does not need 'RESPECT' or 'AWE' (He is GOD and is SUPREME, comparatively, we are NOTHING)....WE cannot make Him look/appear/feel 'more glorious' than He is.

Only the way we choose to LOVE Him can glorify Him.

The book of Job was a LOVE story, not a story about faith,...Job remained steadfast to God because of Job's INTENSE LOVE...'TRUSTING FAITH'.

Those who truly/genuinely love God and want to "draw near" will have a "faith for faith" in order to have a "more excellent" devotion/relationship...

Romans 1:17
"faith for faith"...

...and not just believe that God exists, but also believe that God is a GOOD God that rewards those who wish to "draw near"...

Hebrews 11:6
"and that He REWARDS..." (faith FOR FAITH).

NOTHING dictates/determines the intensity or kind of love that The Lord gets from me, The Lord gets from me...

...the best love that "I" have/know.

If I really believed that the truest, most intense way of loving Him was for me to stand on my head for an hour a day, I'd do that...and THAT would be what He would get from me (there are no RULES in LOVE).

Do you now see a difference between 'book compliance' and LOVE?

TEXT, COMMANDS, OBEDIENCE, works/deeds/effort/earning and SHOWING anything is completely irrelevant and inferior to LOVE.

God is LOVE. We cannot "GIVE"/enrich Him in any way.

Acts 17:25
"as though He needed anything".

If a person refuses to be righteous (insists on being rebellious), THEN they will need to "OBEY" and be commanded.

The Lord wants people who will be righteous (out of their 'free will')...that is why He ABOLISHED what was keeping us from making the [free will] decision to be righteous...

"by abolishing in His flesh..." (Ephesians 2:15).

...so we could freely make the decision to be righteous and live under the "law of liberty"...

James 1:25
"the PERFECT law, the law of liberty"/freedom.

James 2:12
"So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty".

Many Godly attitudes can be found in scripture...

Philemon verse 14
"preferred to do nothing by compulsion...".

LOVE cannot be compelled or legislated (made a rule/law), it can ONLY be freely given.
