My thinking on this one is that because of the "starvation" aspect that would have been occurring due to what was consumed, that a good portion of the weight loss would have been "vital tissue". Meaning, organs and muscle, because that's what the body consumes when it is starving and not shifted over into a fasting mode.
As with fasting, the body shifts over to consuming everything the body doesn't need.
When its not shifted over the body has to live on vital tissue for its sustenance, since its not in position to do otherwise.
With this, numbers on a scale don't necessarily add up to success in my mind.
