Re: question about NAC
Well, in my experience, I only took it for a month then got pregnant and stopped taking it. I found that I kept the benefits for about two months at which time I got a viral infection and I think the viral infection depleted my gluthione reserves (which NAC helps to build to keep you well). So, no I didn't go backwards after stoping taking it until I got an infection and it was amazing because I was the only one in my family who had taken it at that point and the rest all got bad cold when I was 5 weeks along but I didn't, didn't even touch me.
Could it hurt other organs? I don't think so, it's supposed to protect the heart from developing mitral valve problems, being used to treat brain tumors. The kidneys might be hurt if you took excessive doses of it and you had a mouth full of
Amalgams (because it pulls out toxic metals) but I really think you'd have to take a lot. If you don't have
Amalgams or heavy metal toxicity, I wouldn't be concerned about this.
Just try it for a month and see how you go, you might feel really GREAT :-) The brand I used was NOW Foods, it's cheap and I know it works. If you're still concerned I'd ask a doctor or naturopath.
Best regards,
Bronte
