Re: Ummmmm....
It's time to go back to Thomas jefferson's vision. He would be so sickened if he saw what America has become.
You are right about our eroding freedoms. Our leaders might have noble ideas, but they need to think about the future.
The 16th ammendment was intended for the rich. Only those making the equivilant of 120k in today's dollars were ever suppose to pay income tax. Are we pretending this to be the case today?
The reason we made some drugs illegal is because we could not tax them. If the leaders in the 1920's knew we would have this barbaric drug war, they would be sickened.
The reason Hemp was made illegal was because prohibition had ended and the FBN (todays DEA) had nothing to do, so a fellow named Dupont,(who hated Hemp because it does not require the dangerous chemicals and toxins they produce that poisons our environment) a Banker and a logger guy(who knew damn well that hemp is a far better product than the trees we cut down in our forests) got together and bought off some politicians. The politicians claimed that smoking pot made people violent, made the children listen to the satanic music of jazz and swing, and made white woman have sex with "negros" These are the reasons we fuel our vehicles with the dangerous toxic fossil fuel instead of Hemp oil which burns clean and could be grown in the U.S. We would not even need Iraq's oil.
The government claimed that our Social security number would be private and no one could find it out. Mine is now on my driver's license.
When Social security was started, it was 15.00 a year, our leaders never intended for it to be the expensive failure it is now.
There are many other examples of our leaders actually thinking they were doing somthing noble, and the leaders after them abusing it.
You are so right when you say that they only take away rights and freedoms, but never give them back.
