Re: Popping Knee Help Please!
I had the referral to my orthopedic surgeon, but it was only good for the initial surgery and follow up appointments after surgery. My insurance requires going through the referral process again when this time lapses. I saw the same orthopedic surgeon.
When an xray was first taken of my knee, my primary care doctor immediately said I had degenerative
Arthritis because I had bone spurs, but upon further evaluation it was concluded I had good spacing in my joints. My doctor seemed bewildered why I would have bone spurs since it's the last stage of
Arthritis when the cartilage is worn. The only thing I can think of is I have been taking supplements that have Glucosamine and Chondroitin for 10 years due having an autoimmune condition called interstitial cystitis (inflammation of the bladder). It is thought these supplements help with a defective bladder wall and helps build it back up. It works for my bladder...maybe it did the same for my knee. Otherwise I can't explain the xrays.
When I asked why my knee was taking a long time to heal from my surgery, my orthopedic surgeon told me some look good when he operates and some don't. He said mine did not look so great, and looked irritated. My guess is, it's probably autoimmune(probably RA) and since I have an autoimmune disorder (interstitial cystitis) it would not be far fetched {sigh}.
I have a plan. I am going continue taking my supplements, get a referral for PT, and work on getting my quads stronger. I have this great book I am going to pull off the shelf and dust off that I used years ago by Peter Egoscue. It works tremendously when I had back pain that would not go away hopefully his chapter for knee pain will work too. No more self pity, I will keep my fingers crossed.
Thank you for the reply and good wishes.
