Popping Knee Help Please!

I am having issues with my right knee. I can't figure out what is going on with it. Last year I had a torn meniscous and had surgery. My knee has not been the same since. It took a long time to heal from the surgery, more time than the doctor said it would.

5 months ago I jumped of the 3rd stair of a ladder (I know stupid, but in mid-air I knew my knee was not going to hold up). I hyperextended it, heard a loud popping sound and it swelled up.

Went to the Orthpedic Surgeon (a few weeks later...I had to get a referral). By this time the swelling is gone. He manipulated my knee. Says the ligaments feel fine, and hopes I did not tear my meniscous again. Sends me on my way.

I have been careful since because I know my knee can't tolerate jumping, running etc, or swift movements.

Last week I took a mistep on the stairs. I caught myself with the back of my foot, and again my leg hyperextended (and it hurts). I heard cr-crack crack and swelled up immediately above my knee cap. It stayed very swollen for 3 days. Today on my 7th day of my injury its still swollen but not too bad. I can at least do activities and put weight on it. Today, I go for a walk with a brace. I take a step downward and I hear and feel a popping sound in the back of my knee (right knee, slightly to my right of the middle). It gives out, and lots and lots of pain. I fell to the ground. I stayed there until the nausea subsided. I can walk on it, but is is soar behind the knee.

Can anyone help me figure out what could be going on with my knee, and what I can do for it? Thank you so much! I hate feeling like this!
