Questions about the 2 kelps and reactions if you please

I'm not really sure how to explain myself but here goes..

I've been messing around with the 2 different kelps (ascophyllum and laminaria) mixing them and taking them at different times because of this water retention problem I've recently developed, and a few questions came to mind while doing so..

-Is it possible that my body is digesting/absorbing/utilizing the sodium in these kelps much moreso and having a much harder time doing so with the potassium and thus causing this incredible overload of sodium in my system as a result?

It seems like no matter how much more of the higher potassium kelp I put in than the higher sodium kelp, the sodium takes over and causes me to feel full yet crave/overeat potassium foods, retain water, and feel extra acidic. I understand that it takes longer for the body to be rid of the sodium, but it actually seems like I need a great deal more potassium in ratio to the sodium just to get in the right range of higher sodium to potassium because of this, if that makes any sense at all? Or perhaps the ascophyllum kelp is just THAT much stronger?

-My next question is this .. if at the time of drinking the alkalizing drink I am acidic, and then I begin to retain water (due to the amount of sodium) that all the acidity is soaked up with the water and is held in my body/cells causing more problems until it's dumped out?

I may be overthinking things once again, but understanding these things even slightly might help me in making the correct choices for my drink mixtures.
