A Testimony About My Own Tinctures

Hey gang,

Last month I tinctured my own single herbs and blends for the very first time as per Uny's instructions, during the forum's first Tincture Party. I only made little pint Mason jars, because it was my first experience, and I didn't want to make a mistake with a whole lot of herbs and OMG pricey vodka. After two weeks, these tinctures were ready for harvest. When I pressed a little Echinacea, I found that my color was very similar to Uny's, maybe a little greener, and I thought it was similar in strength.

I've had all of my children here, in and out, for over two weeks. My oldest daughter has been getting over a cold she can't shake, so I let her hit the Echinacea as hard as she wanted to. She commented, "Wow! This is really strong! Is it supposed to be like this? Do you have too much vodka in it?" But within a day she felt better.

My daughter-in-law came up from Austin, and was feeling run down. I invited her to take some Echinacea, and she had a similar reaction. "Wow! I can really feel this in my mouth! It kinda numbs my tongue and kinda scratches the back of my throat!" I said "This is the Echinacea signature, and if you don't feel this sensation, you aren't getting a good echinacea product," like I knew what I was talking about. lol I began to tell her about Uny's recipe, how she taught me how to make it strong, how almost all echinacea tinctures on the market are grossly watered down, and the reason a lot of herbal products don't work is because there's hardly any herbs in them, and sometimes, like with "essences," it's just water that has the "spirit" of the herb (or flower, or animal) in it. After about an hour, DIL reported that she was already feeling some better. I encouraged her to take echinacea at will.

This past weekend all of "the girls" went to my girlfriend's house. I turned BFF on to Schulze last year, and as I was putting some dishes away I saw she had some of Schulze's Ech+ tincture in her cabinet. My girls were still feeling a little under the weather, so I asked them if they wanted some Ech+. They did, and squirted some in a small glass of water just like they did at my house.

Both young women said, "Wow, Mom, your echinacea is stronger!" I said, "Really?" grabbed the bottle, and squirted a dropper directly in my mouth. Both of the girls were a little shocked. lol "Man, how can you stand to take it like that?" I dunno, I guess I'm just used to it.

Anyway, there is a distinct difference in the taste between Dr. Schulze 's current Ech+ product and Uny's... and now mine. I can taste the echinacea in Dr. Schulze 's, but his recipe adds garlic and habanero peppers. Since I know what echinacea is supposed to taste like, the "hotness" of Ech+ seems to come more from the garlic and cayenne rather than the tingle of the echinacea. Uny and I don't add garlic nor cayenne to our echinacea because we know most people are eating this separately on Uny's suggested protocols. Looking at Dr. Schulze 's original recipe, it appears he uses 50-50% herbs to alcohol. Uny tells everybody to use more herbs so that we aren't wasting the expensive vodka as much as desiring a stronger product.

Dr. Christopher and Dr. Schulze ALWAYS encouraged everyone to make their own products at home. Anything you purchase at a store will never be as strong as your own home brew.

Tincture on!
