Re: Here's her solution! +edits Re: Breast Reduction - Infection continues 3 months later
FANTASTIC! That's absolutely super!
One thing that is VERY important is that she has a quality Echinacea tincture. Lajoanna I do NOT care if it comes from me, but this is SO essential to her healing! It MUST be made from organic herbs; it canNOT be a standardized extract, and it can't come from somewhere that has some "scientific fancy-schmancy" tincturing process. If you want, get me the "brand name" and I'll check it out (assuming it wasn't one of the names I mentioned). 4-8 droppersful 4x daily is 16-32 droppersful daily. A two
oz bottle has 84 droppersful (enough for 2 1/2 days at the high dose)...so she needs AT LEAST 4
oz for 5-7 days.
Slippery Elm Bark powder should be "fawn" in color - if it's white or light cream? It's been overprocessed or harvested incorrectly.
I understand why she's concerned about the pus/ooze. I wish I could offer a "scientific" explanation, but I can't. Many herbs simply defy our understanding! Somehow when Slippery Elm is packed into an oozing sore/infection, it pulls/draws the infection to itself and somehow 'transmutes' and neutralizes the infection. And it does NOT need to be removed in order for the wound to heal...in fact, removing it constantly interrupts the healing process.
Also remind her, "pus" is NOT the cause, nor is it the infective agent/pathogen/bacteria. Pus is simply the evidence that MILLIONS of immune cells have given up their life attempting to beat the pathogen/infection.
>>>>Pus: A whitish-yellow or yellow substance made primarily of dead white blood cells and dead bacteria; normally found in regions of bacterial infection

Just the same, it IS possible that the poultice would become "pus saturated" - if that happens, simply wipe it away VERY gently (not disturbing what has already 'soaked in'), and repack that area of the poultice with more of the same. But assure her, "pus in general" will not stop a wound from healing.
There is no such thing as "too much garlic" here - if she's willing to take 10-15 cloves day, she'll likely find that within a day or two the wound has stopped oozing completely (or at least 75%). That is assuming of course, that she's taking enough of a quality Echinacea tincture.
Please don't think I'm being somehow "obsessive" about the Echinacea. I likely know more about Echinacea than anyone on CZ (and likely most herbalists in the world). Sloan Kettering recently did a study/sampling of 50+ Echinacea products on the market: 40% did not contain the species of Echinacea listed, and 10 of them had NO Echinacea at all. And capsules, even the best quality, are only 10% as effective as a quality tincture.
Be SURE and post if you/she has any more questions or concerns!
