Good post Dr. Mom
I agree we need to be more self sufficient. I have had a bad feeling that way for years. We recently bought a house in the country. Since there wasn't a big housing bubble in the area we were buying in area were not able to afford as much land as we wanted. However, we have fruit trees, fruit bushes, vines, etc and we are buying as much as we can afford to plant while we still have the chance. I am putting away herbs and getting my health "fine tuned".
I know allot of people say we are getting what we deserve and in a way we are. However, I NEVER supported the last 3 presidents(before that I was too young to vote) I talked to family and friends and tried to show people what was going on. Either no one cared because what was going on in their lives mattered more than "boring politics" or they were caught up in their love of Obama and the change he was promoting. Allot of bad men/dictators ran under the guise of change throughout history and people lapped it up then and they are doing it now as well! Obama's campaign NEVER really said what kind of change they were going to do. They promoted the "America needs something different instead of more the same" or something like that. Oh my friends and some family lapped it up like starving puppy's. Everyone wanted change and here it is. I sat out the election becuase I felt like voting for the lesser of the two evils was pointless as it was going to play out the way it was intended anyways. So that's why long before this election I had a plan very much like what Dr. Mom said. In the end I feel the elite have too much power to fight them by writing letters but we need to not roll over and write them if we feel we should. We also need to educate and prepare and wait and have a supply of herbs/food/nonelectric water purifier/education and guns because in the future we will need them. We need to not loose the hope that if the people ban together something can be accomplished. Join your local tea party. I believe that if you can get enough people's heads out of the sand and open their eyes that as a whole we can accomplish wonders. But deep down where I hate to admit it I don't think people as a whole will. It will take something serious and a hard fall for the country way more than whats happening now to get people to wake up. Most people out there like having the gov. make decisions for them, most don't care about gov. control and regulations happening in record numbers. As long as they have their TV shows and beer and can afford what they want they are happy. As long as the politicians say the right soothing words then their worry slips away with the click of a TV remote.
I am glad that this discussion was cross posted. I really enjoyed/learned from reading what others had to say. Don't loose the hope and keep the knowledge alive!
