Re: True Hunger...

Hi Mouseclick,
Dr Fuhrmans quote you have mentioned........

"The ability to sense true hunger, which is a mouth-and-throat sensation, does not occur until after you are eating healthfully and have a high nutrient per calorie diet".

I think this is basically what I said.

True hunger will occur after the body has been eating according to his regimen over time, because this will eliminate toxemia: therefore the "Toxic Hunger" he refers to, with the symptoms he described, cannot occur.

However, the genuine return of hunger, which is an incredibly powerful demand for food at the end of a long fast, is not really the same as the true hunger he describes while eating healthily: he is basically describing the bodys need for nourishment or true hunger as a.........

A SENSATION IN YOUR THROAT
INCREASED SALIVATION
A DRAMATICALLY-HEIGHTENED TASTE SENSATION

The genuine return of hunger after a "finish fast" is much much more than the feelings he has described, and where the above symptoms (normal hunger) are to be included WITH an all-over-and extremely powerful body-demand for nourishment that is really too difficult to explain in words.

Genuine hunger at the end of a "finish fast" has to be experienced to be believed, and continues unabated for up to two weeks or more. If this is not controlled, then much harm may result from overeating and a too-rapid gain in weight.

If I thought I had to wait for a meal until genuine hunger appears, as that experienced at the end of a long fast, life would be unbearable: a bit like waiting until you are extremely dehydrated with a relentlessly powerful demand for water until you have a drink. Genuine thirst creates an insatiable demand for water, and where you would probably gluttonise water in huge quantities ravenously. The same can be said for genuine hunger at the end of a complete fast. There is very little comparison between the return of genuine hunger at the end of a long fast, and the hunger he is describing.

I think that Dr Fuhrman is relating the feelings of True hunger and the need for nourishment that does not accompany the symptoms of toxic hunger, as you are not toxemic.

Regards

Chrisb1.
