Why share spiritual beliefs?

I guess I would define spiritual beliefs as your beliefs about the most fundamental truths that govern the reality in which we live.

Spiritual beliefs matter. In fact, everything in your life flows from your spiritual beliefs.

I believe that the same principle that I brought up in regards to physical healing applies but in regards to spiritual matters, it is much more difficult to ascertain someone's goal. Someone's soul may have a desire that their conscious mind is unaware of. Much of their trouble in their life could be that there exists a conflict between their mind and their soul.

As far as physical healing, it is much easier to make an assumption that if someone comes to this forum they desire to experience physical healing. This however is still an assumption. Someone may be lonely and seeking attention. Their sickness may be a way for them to get that attention from their family and friends. If we made an assumption that they came to experience healing, in this case, that assumption would be wrong and our attempts to assist them may properly be interpreted as judgment because we are no longer helping them go where they want to go. We are saying that they should desire to experience healing rather than using their lack of health to gain attention and nurturing from others.

As far as spiritual truths, the same applies. I would define spiritual healing as the mind remembering a truth that your soul already knows. In the case above, this person may be best served by some spiritual assistance. It may be beneficial for their mind to remember that their perceived "need" for attention from others is an illusion. This truth their soul already knows but their mind has forgotten it.

For this person, spiritual healing must be experienced before physical healing can be experienced. Their physical illness is actually a means for their mind to fulfill its perceived need of receiving attention from others. This person would benefit most greatly from someone making them aware of this truth and Re-Minding them of what their soul already knows. This perceived need for attention is an illusion. Pursuing this need does not serve your soul's purpose in life.

Helping someone spiritually is much trickier than helping someone heal physically. It is difficult to know the soul's agenda or to what extent someone is consciously mindful of their soul's agenda. It is much easier to make assumptions.

Before attempting to help someone with spiritual matters it may be best to ask them lots of questions.

The one I usually start with is:
Are your spiritual beliefs producing the results that you wish to experience in life?

Your assertion about the relativity of spiritual beliefs is true. Even if people hear directly from God (which happens all the time, in so many different ways), that message is received in your mind through all the filters that you've acquired through your life experiences. It is influenced by all of your assumptions. To communicate it to others you are forced to use language which is often woefully unequipped to communicate essential spiritual truth. And then they must receive your message through all of their filters and assumptions.

Wow! It is amazing that we are ever able to communicate spiritual matters effectively to each other. But that does not mean we should not try. In fact, it means that we should try harder but be aware of all of the potential challenges and to treat each other with tolerance and openness. I have never learned a spiritual truth by holding on tightly to previous spiritual knowledge. In every instance of inspiration, I am willing to throw away everything that I previously believed if it is no longer serves my highest purpose in life.

As we look back on the whole record of human history, it seems that we are repeating the same mistakes over and over again. In that time we have advanced our technology greatly and our understanding of the psychology of human behavior. We've tried all different kinds of political systems yet we are unable to live in peace with each other, provide an equal opportunity for everyone, and make sure no person is starving or without adequate shelter even though collectively, we possess the resources to accomplish all of this.

If we want better results, we must learn to communicate spiritual truths to each other effectively. We must stop holding onto ideas dogmatically that do not produce the results that we desire to experience in this life. We cannot use the failures of the past (i.e. Crusades, Holy Wars) to excuse ourselves from engaging in the process of sharing spiritual truth.

If those who would engage in the process with grace and respect remain silent for fear of offending someone else, we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. If we allow the conversation to be dominated by those who dogmatically insist on their way because deep down they fear that what they say may not be true, then we are equally responsible for the results that are produced.
