Fasting support for people with current / previous eating disorders

(NOTE: Support links at the end and more in this later post of mine

)

There have been many people who have sought support at the Curezone Water Fasting Forum, and they may be suffering from or have suffered in the past from eating disorders, though this may have passed largely unnoticed.

Thanks to "pro anorexia" and "pro bulimia" websites, such sufferers are taught to hide their problems from their loved ones and the medical profession. Unfortunately this often leads to terrible consequences such as loss of limbs, hair and eventual death. An example of how to pro boards teach people to hide the symptoms...

This is a bit like the blind leading the blind over the edge of a cliff.

Unfortunately this is all the support that many people can find, but I am actually really GLAD to see that some people have found their way onto the Curezone Water Fast forum and are able to get some help there.

I just wanted to say I think we SHOULD offer help to people with such eating disorders and a history of such disorders, however no one here is really qualified to help with the underlying cause, which is often some psychological events or abuse in childhood that has left a deep mark. Having said that, I know it helps when people start emailing each other on Curezone to discuss their personal problems, so that can help too.

It would be nice to think that people who were helped here stayed on to help and support others.

Opinions anyone? This is a debate forum after all!

DEFINITIONS:
Just to clarify ""Anorexia nervosa" is frequently shortened to "anorexia" in the popular media. This is technically incorrect, as the term "anorexia" used separately refers to the medical symptom of reduced appetite (which therefore is distinguishable from anorexia nervosa in being non-psychiatric)." and "Individuals with anorexia are known to control body weight commonly through the means of voluntary starvation, purging, vomiting, excessive exercise or other weight control measures, such as diet pills or diuretic drugs. While the condition primarily affects adolescent females, approximately 10% of people with the diagnosis are male[1]. Anorexia nervosa, involving neurobiological, psychological, and sociological components[2], is a complex condition that can lead to death in severe cases."

And Bulimia: Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by recurrent binge eating, followed by compensatory behaviors, referred to as "purging".[1] The most common form—practiced more than 75% of people with bulimia nervosa—is self-induced vomiting; fasting, the use of laxatives, enemas, diuretics, and overexercising are also common.[2]
