Re: PAINT LADY: INFO ON ATKINS DIET & INFLAMMATION AS SOURCE OF HEART DISEASE

Very interesting. Thank you for posting those results. I sometimes feel as though I'm talking to a brick wall when I try to tell nutritionally minded people that thier facts might not be correct.

The CCR test that was listed on the second website is the one my husband aced. He's home now so I could ask him. If anyone needs to know where to get it done here in Indianapolis let me know and I'll post the place. He didn't have to have a doctors okay to get it done but we no longer have health insurance so that wasn't an issue for us. It was out of pocket money and he wants me to get one next. Someday I'll get around to it:)

I do need to speak one word of caution. In the last year or so the market has been flooded by products under the low carb label. I personally don't trust them. They remind me of the low fat junk foods that hit the market about 5 or so years ago. If people have to use them as a crutch to stay on the diet then so be it. But they are filled with chemicals. And while splenda promises to be the new wonder Sugar of the future it's not been on the market long enough for us to know what it's long range effects would be. So my version of a low carb diet requires lots of meat and veggies and very little of the low carb junk food on the market. Only enough to keep you from totally blowing it. I would rather have a moderate serving of fruit as my desert than a chemical filled chocolate bar. Even though I absolutly love chocolate. Also even the Atkins people will tell you they are not supposed to be in your diet regularly. They are extras. Not the main fare.

Take care,
Lisa
