Re: Do not tell people if you are stockpiling

One of the neighbors we helped during the
hurricane brought us a humongous pizza
tonight as a thank you. Made me glad we
helped him. My other neighbor brought
over his gas splitter and we spent hours
today splitting the trees felled by the
hurricane winds. I traded a massage for
his help. Someone else who was helped
during the storm by us brought a pole for
us today so we can reconnect our power
lines. Poles are as scarce as hens teeth
and so another example of how that energy
came back. He never asked for anything for
the pole and the time and effort it took
to deliver it. It almost made me cry though
since it was really an extra mile sort of
thing. Anyway, the point being that I need
and love my neighbors and we will cover
each other's back time and time again.

Another good example, whenever I need gas,
since our truck is in Arkansas, my neighbor
takes my empties and brings me back gas so
I do not get fumes in my van doing it for myself.

I have the patience to grow a garden and do
what I do whereas I would not shoot anything,
not even a snake, so having neighbors who are
able to shoot a dove for dinner is a blessing.
When the going gets going, I think, where we
live, it will take all of us to support and watch
over each other.

During Hurricane Ike, one neighbor went door to
door with ice and news. That sort of caring is
priceless. As long as I have anything, I think
I can halve or quarter it and share. For me,
that's the richness of my own humanity.

As far as the government goes, its not like
we have a compound and they are going to
clean us out. If the recommendation is to have
a months worth of food, and if trouble shows
up, I will be glad to argue for relativity...
such as how much food can a neighborhood eat?
I will consider it stealing too if military
take it for themselves. Some people put their
$$ in many other things, including the bank.
I put some of my money into preparing for a
time when food and tools are more important
than dollars. If the times comes and they are
relieving people of everything they have, then
those times are the worse case scenario.

I do appreciate your admonition however. If
the poster had not asked, I would not have
spoken up. I have finally successfully brought
up the topic with my neighbors and so they know
but that is the beauty for me in forming a
community which would help each other if need
be. They would not be taking from me but we
would be cooperating with each other in order
to keep our lives and health together as much
as possible under the circumstances.

best wishes,
Zoe
