Re: Moldy bed PLEASE Help
Jayme, my goodness me how do you survive?
Years ago I shifted out to Auckland,New Zealand from England.
My wife and I had to live in a flat for a while.
When we walked into the place the first thing I noticed was the smell of mould.
We had no choice at the time and had to live in that place.
Auckland has high humidity basically throughout the year, it was at it's worse at Winter-time.
The first thing I done when we moved in was open all the windows basically to dry the damp that the flat had. I took a look around and yes there was this mould. I found it in cupboards, round windows etc. even the bed mattress had it.
I put the mattress outside in the sun to dry it out, took a few days, one could actually see the vapour rising from it.
The windows were kept open at all times in that flat, day and night.
We washed the affected areas with water then we sprayed the areas with an anti-mould solution. When that dried out the mould disappeared and never returned, and I put that down to simply leaving the windows open throughout the Winter and Summer.
When we returned to the UK some 15 years later we found a similar problem in the home that we purchased.
We went through the same procedure once again, but this time we had some mould on the wall upstairs due to a leaking gutter. There we painted that part of the wall with anti-mould paint after washing the wall with water.
Again we opened the windows to let fresh air flow in.
Our windows are open all day, at night we leave the upstairs open all night both Winter and of course the Summer, we have no mould.
What surprises me is that when we look at the houses in the street where we live 90% of the windows are closed at all times unless there is a mini heatwave or something, I just cannot believe it.
Well Jayme I hope something of what I say helps you but beware of course of the villains around but I think common-sense prevails, good luck, tomi.
