Re: Acne's a B*tch: Paleo Diet
I know this thread is a year old. However I feel it's important to second that notion, when it may indeed help others.
I have to agree completely with Kokona based on my own personal experiences. I used to have problems with recurring skin infections on my face. They did not go away until I began eating raw animal and vegetable proteins.
I still eat a fair amount of cooked foods, but it took cutting out most refined carbs, sugars and starches and adding raw eggs, meat, dairy, and honey to wipe out these infections for good. If I eat too much of the cooked and not enough of the dairy I start to get
Acne again. Though I have noticed the longer I eat mostly raw the stronger and more resistant my body seems to get and I can handle more cooked. Still for the most part I prefer raw to cooked anyways. I had no trouble making the transition because I prefer my meat bloody anyway. And I have not regretted it since.
The other thing I find to be almost instantly beneficial and totally irreplaceable is
juicing raw leafy green veggies, especially cilantro, parsley and celery. I usually do about equal parts. Also sparingly adding beets and carrots. I also juice baby lettuces, swiss chard, cucumber, zucchini. I do NOT juice fruits except for once in a blue moon as my body does not tolerate large amounts of
Sugar at one time.
I personally find vegan and vegetarian eating naive, in case you haven't noticed, nature is a cruel dame. But, to each their own, and in the words of Will Smith, "You do you and I'll do me"
Also I agree with what's been said about eating for your own body. We're not all cut from the same cloth and it's very important to listen to your body, it will often tell you when it doesn't like what you're putting in to it.
G'day to ya!
