Re: Iodine as mercury chelator (some questions for Sean)

Hi again, Sean,
thanks so much for your response. I discovered the Iodine forum
in Feb. '07 when I had been using detoxified Iodine (which I
bought from Global Light Network in fall of '06 and started in
Dec. '06) for a couple of months. I was on the forum pretty nearly
all the time the first half or more of 2007, beginning in Feb.
I learned about Lugol's and Iodoral on the forum, and read many
illuminating posts by Vulcanel, Trapper, Newport, Grzbear, and
Wommie (Wombat), to name a few. There were many other brilliant
contributors whose posts educated me on the topic. I realized that
iodine was not for me when I began to have numerous troubling
reactions from it. The first was the skin stuff (a horrific rash
extending from my wrist to above my elbow, inner right arm, which
kept me up nights scratching my epidermis off, for two months
or more). I later got the rash on my left hand (palm and fingers)
and am still dealing with it to this day. I saw two dermatologists,
4 GPs, and got 4 diagnoses. One was eczema; one was fungus; another
was eczema and staph; the 4th was just plain old staph (staphylococcus
aureus--not sure I got spelling right). The derms just prescribed the
usual useless ointments: one for bacteria (which really did help, more
than anything else), the others for fungus and eczema. I spent hundreds
on Rx's last year which did not work, and needless office visits. The
arm itch (picture the worst poison oak case you've ever seen and
multiply by a factor of at least 50--it looked like hives and burned
like crazy when the blisters broke) disappeared sometime in March.
Around that time, coincidentally or not, I started experiencing knee
pain and swelling in my left knee. That never did go away, got
considerably worse and totally changed my life. It changed my gait,
it changed my exercise habits (many times I could not exercise), it
altered my 20-yr. yoga practice. I began to gain weight from lack of
exercise--or so I thought. Come to find out now the weight gain is
from high cortisol. Endocrine problem? Yes, but that is secondary!
Secondary to toxicity from my mercury Amalgams which were never
chelated properly. (I had them removed in '87-88, long before it
was popular or even well known about. I've always been the first
or one of the first to do or try things. North node in Aries! :-)
So I've lost a whole pile of muscle mass that I had built up through
decades of regular yoga practice and more recently, a return to the
gym (which I had had to give up due to chronic fatigue, not from
lack of motivation).

Anyhow, I'm just now learning about the Cutler protocol and I think that is the
direction in which I'm headed. I have not yet ordered the books because I
have been waiting since last week to hear back from (yet another) N.D. in
Washington state (someone on CureZone told me about her) who has a QXCI machine
and SCIO (I don't know enough about this to know whether these two things
are two separate machines or work in synch) before I shell out more money
for books. I had the DMPS challenge test, I think I told you, before I
discovered Andy's writings on the dangers of such. I really feel my
symptoms have spiked since I had the test on Friday afternoon. I was not
able to sleep at all last night (well, an hour if you call that something--
I was on the computer or lying awake trying to sleep the entire night
till around 4:00 a.m. or so), and my skin problem on my hand worsened,
and other symptoms as well. I now haven't the slightest doubt that at the
root of it all is the mercury poisoning still in my system, and primarily
in my gut and in my brain. I too suffer from brain fog and my short-term
memory just gets worse and worse with every passing year. And no, it is NOT
old age, this began when I was 38 years old! (I just HATE it when people who
don't know any better tell you "Oh, you're just getting old!" or "everyone
gets old!" BS! (excuse my Yiddish) we here know better!) Anyway, I
digress.
I appreciate your offer to help me with iodine, but I really gave it my
best shot and I may be one of those mentioned by Newport who are not
candidates because of "methylation." I saw one of the posts which Newport
recently put up there again for my benefit, and I really feel I fit into
this category. I think I'm going to have to go the standard chelation
route with DMSA and perhaps ALA, per the Cutler protocol. Perhaps when I'm
better, I can try Iodine again, but perhaps not, because I think the skin
stuff may be caused by iodine. OTOH, the skin stuff may be happening on
account of my compromised immune system/dysbiosis (one and the same thing).
Dr. Kennedy showed me my WBCs when he did the live blood cell testing (did
he do that for you?) and they look like they just sit there, they are not
really active at all. I really hope that the iodine and selenium do it for
you.
I am very curious to hear what more you have to say about Kennedy. It is very
interesting that his house is for sale! Did you just discover that thru
looking at his website? Why don't you email me privately,
it's better that not discuss that on a public forum.

One other thing, re Cocoon Nutrition. I discovered that they sell SanPharma
products when doing a Google search on the products. Only thing is (1) they
do not list the price; and (2) how do you know which ones to take without
a doctor's or practitioner's advice? there is more than one type. There is
an N.D. you can ask for free advice about the products, I emailed him and
got no response. I wonder if he would be qualified to give someone guidance
based on one's symptoms. I would imagine he would want some sort of fee for
that. Everything costs money. But I have a hard time believing that if
purchased from Cocoon they would cost as much as Dr. K. is charging! I thought
that was a total rip but not knowing anything about them and why they
are so much (and what the company that produces charges for them) I really
did not feel it was appropriate to comment.

I'll be looking for your email.
~Julie
