My feeling on this is hands off if you don't click, don't like the fur or just don't feel comfortable with the dog in question.

You will have your dog around for up to 15 years!!!!

My first dog was a rescue dog and I knew within 15 seconds that this dog is the right one. The second dog is from a responsible breeder. I sat more than an hour with the puppies and checked them for temperament and watched them interact. Two very different experiences but both have led me to the perfect dog.

Ask for guidance/help in finding the right dog. And as difficult as it is, do NOT get hung up on the pictures on Petfinder. A dog may be oh so cute but not the right fit at all. Go with your intuition - if it does not feel right, it's not.
