Re: Ready to Adopt a Dog - Petfinder Addiction, Questions

I, too, am addicted to petfinder and I check it everyday. I found my new dog there and drove to Monroe, Louisiana from Jackson, Ms to get her at the local pound. I saw a picture of "Paula Deen" on the Internet and I just had to have her. She has a little terrier in her making her hair a little wiry. Princess, our Pom who died, had the softest hair. We still have Putter, our Pekig, and his hair is soft as silk. I thought the wiry hair would be something I wouldn't like, but I have found it isn't bad at all.

Will you fall in love immediately with your pet? Probably not. But, give it a couple of weeks and you will love your baby.

Here is something you may not have thought about.........A rescue dog will make a wonderful pet, but they are not like a puppy you purchase from a breeder. A rescue dog may have had to fight to exist and even if the dog hasn't fought, the dog has probably been around fighters and will probably be a little aggressive. You may have to be able to give extra love and extra discipline to your pet, but I promise you it will be worth it in the long run. We have had Paula Deen for about a month now and she is a member of our family. We love her.

Paulette
