Another analogy would be drawn like this:

Look at the particular positive aspects that you find in the guy at the date/encounter (doesn't matter how many) and enjoy them. Associate them with breadcrumbs. The breadcrumbs or the encounters are just testing you to see if you are flowing downstream or upstream. Once you are fully flowing downstream and never faltering from the joy you are having on your journey, the dream mate will appear by virtue of the LOA.

Once your mate showed up, don't ever think to stop the journey otherwise you become dead in Abraham's view.

You should include in the list of positive aspects you are looking for in the dream mate, another aspect: the dream mate wants to co create the next leg of the journey with you (of the life journey so to speak). Don't worry that you have conflicting wants with the dream mate, just read at the link below (forget about compromising):
