Nicotine Patch - is it also toxic?

I imagine that Cure Zone is the only place I will get an honest answer to this:
IS the nicotine patch toxic? How bad is it?

[yes, I quit smoking a week ago - it seemed easier this time, I don't know why]

Of course, I understand that it isn't as bad as smoking brand name cigarettes, but maybe it is not a good idea to stay on the patch for more than a week. The box they come in suggests we use it for about 6 weeks or more [of course, they will sell more that way]. I cannot trust a product advice!!

I have had some odd experiences with the patch - weird dreams and so on...

IBS: When I use the patch, my IBS seems better in that there is no bloating during sleep - but also when I stopped the patch I had a return of that bloating. [this is a problem I have had for years, I never related it to smoking, but maybe that was the reason I got that bloat - when no smokes overnight it would occur.
