Re: I'm all ears...
Well, Zoe, yesterday my son's occupational therapist was here. You know how you just "know" that there are some intelligent people out there who live in la-la land with whom you wouldn't even bother to discuss issues or upcoming elections? She is one of them. Beautiful human being, but floating around in her own beautiful world where everyone is fabulous and things are wonderful and the government is going to take care of us. My wonderful husband (he is on my doo-doo list at the moment) asked her who she was voting for, Obama or Clinton. She said she likes Obama. Then she asked me who I was voting for (there has been a Ron Paul sign on my lawn now for almost three months) and I said Ron Paul. She said she'd never heard of him. Why am I voting for him? I said, "Because he follows the Constitution." She said, verbatim quote, "Wow, that's scary. That really scares me." After again having to collect my jaw from the floor, I asked why. She said that it's an old piece of paper. I asked her what she would suggest. She said, verbatim again, "Well, I think we should see what other countries are doing that works for them and then just tweak it a little bit for us." I didn't even know what to say. I repeat: I didn't even know what to say.
I don't want to sound like a pessimist, I really don't, because I've always believed that good will prevail in the end, but when you have people that are supposedly educated, whatever that means, and they are speaking this way, what hope is there? I feel like the lone nut in town. George Carlin is right: Nobody cares. The majority are controlled and brainwashed. How does one fight that? What do we do? Please tell me.
