Yes. These are common myths perpetuated in our government school systems. Why would the government ever want to paint itself as the culprit? It simply creates easy and simplistic answers to truly deeper issues that it holds actual responsibility for. I think people would be angry if they knew it was their own "holy" government that sold it's own people up the river in bondage or destroyed the Native Americans.
