Re: Medullary Sponge Kidneys

Hi, I was diagnosed with MSK in my left Kidney in 1999. Since then I have passed 10 stones over a 8 year period. Recently I was rushed to hospital for the first time with excrutiating pain which was stronger than I get with renal cholic. Only morphine could dull the pain and following a scan it showed I had a stone blocking the urinary tract of my left kidney. I was released from hospital two days ago with a cocktail of painkillers to take in the hope that the stone will pass normally. I have my doubts so am going to see my consultant next week to see if my kidney can be removed as it is now affecting my work and quality of life. Has anybody out there gone as far as the removal of a kindney?
