Re: The Honest Food Guide

Bless your heart tomi.  I understand your dilemma.  Our taste buds and bodies, if you will, have been spoiled by this food.  This is what we crave, and the craving is more emotional than we realize.  It is our need to feel "good."  This need and craving that we have for the feel good and comfort foods is no accident.  It was done to us on purpose.  Look at how we go back and buy more.   The truth is that we are addicted to these foods, both physically and emotionally.

The advice I would give you is not to start this new diet cold turkey.  It would make you very unhappy and the end result is that you would go back to the other foods with a vengeance.  So, let's go an easier way.

Our emotions and need for certain types of foods are very closely interrelated for the simple fact that these foods make us feel "good."  I have had people tell me that this type of food is the only thing that makes them happy.  Therefore more is involved than just swapping one diet for another.  We must deal with ourselves and our emotional wellbeing.  Why would this food be more important to us, more important that even our health and wellbeing?  It gives us an opportunity to look around us and assess how we stand in our own little world.  What makes us happy, what gives us unhappiness, grief, and stress?  The majority will find that the negative will far outweigh the positive, especially if we are caught in the way our every day society runs.  We need relief somewhere!  Hence, our search for alternative comforts and alternative means of being happy.  Food is one of these.  What we truly need to do is assess our own emotional wellbeing.  Why we react the way we do to certain things, what pushes our buttons, what can we resolve, and what must we simply accept.  We need to do a thorough soul searching experience, as our comfort, happiness and energy lies in the real meaning of life and we hold that secret within us.  Some of us have a bit of digging and searching to do to find it, but it is there.  Food was never meant to make us "happy."  It was meant to simply nourish our bodies.  I have written an ebook entitled The 8 Invisible Stains of our Souls which can be purchased at Rose Laurel Books.  I am having a sale this Holiday Season and drastically reducing the price to $7.95, as this is a very emotional time of year.  Anyway, this ebook deals with the fact that we unconsciously react to certain circumstances in a negative way because of things that have happened to us in childhood.  And the most interesting part of it all is that we are not even aware that we are still reacting to these past traumas.  The ebook teaches you how to go back and recognize why we tend to be self destructive, and how to correct it.

Another method that I would like to introduce to you is the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).  This is a miracle working technique that works with tapping certain acupressure energy points to achieve relief and healing and it works for almost anything, from feeling pain to emotional issues.  You can use this method to help your transition from the comfort foods to the healthy foods.  Please feel free to ask me any questions as you go along.

And..... Let me refer you to The Best Years in Life Recipe Section.  This will help you plan your meals.  They are healthy, and you will feel satisfied, comforted, and have energy.

Lastly, let me point out your very own words:

"if one had the choice of either eating one or the other i would, like most people choose the foods on the left (the unhealthy foods), simply because they are more pleasurable to eat, whilst the foods on the right are looked upon overall as quite unexciting, boring although necessary for good health."

Look at the emotional words that you have automatically associated with the eating experience.

" am very interested in this subject for only yesterday i wrote to the "food standards agency" in the UK to ask why i as a sufferer of hypertension are limited in my choice of foods simply because they are processed with too much SODIUM and ADDITIVES"

Unfortunately, the sodium and additives is what harms people and leads to many diseases, serious ones, as hypertension, diabetes, etc. and even those conditions that we take for granted, those everyday aches and pains.

Tomi, there are also other ways that we can treat your blood pressure naturally, in conjunction with a healthy diet.  Unfortunately, to be healthy, you cannot get by this.  But you can do it.  You just have to learn ways to prepare healthy food, that's all.  And it is easier than you think.

If you are interested in more natural ways to stay healthy and keep that blood pressure down, please come to the Ask Tony Isaacs Forum.  And I believe that today I will post a natural remedy for high blood pressure there.

I wish you the best.  Please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Tony if you have any questions.  My expertise actually is on the emotional side of health.  Tony's expertise in in the foods, supplements, etc.

Blessings to you my friend.

Luella
