Hi Janey, I agree with what Wintergreens says. Your symptoms definitely sound like magnesium deficiency so start taking that. Have you had a hair analysis done? That would be really useful to see what mineral imbalances you have, though magnesium is a cert. Those symptoms can also be caused by B vitamin deficiency which is common if you have candida anyway so take a B complex too.
If you start on ALA start low as Winter says, like 10mg by splitting a 50mg capsule into 5 or even getting a 25mg cap and splitting 3 times so you get about 8mg per dose that way you are much less likely to suffer too bad side effects.
Also glandulars may be helpful for you if you really feel you aren't coping and are suffering with adrenal and/or thyroid type problems....see Winter's post below for link to site with adrenal and thyroid info...
