Re: Relax and Enjoy Life.

Thank you for your answer. The problem with my current job is that the firm is failing. The caseload we have is aging, and there are no new cases coming in (only two since last September). On top of that, we just had 12 cases pulled to other firms for insurance company political reasons. I have spoken with my boss, and he says he has no plans to let me go now, but he cannot guarantee what will happen in six months. So this would not be a good time to ask for more benefits. I love this job for many reasons, and don't care so much about the benefits anyway. Being laid off in the not to distant future is the only reason I am thinking of leaving. In six months, it will be the holidays, which is not a good time to be looking or a job, and my industry is very slow now anyway. This new firm is healthy and thriving, is offering me benefits and more money. It is just a long, difficult drive, the office is too cold for me, and it will probably be more stressful.

On top of that, I am sick now with abdominal/bladder pain I can not get rid of and I am in a very emotionally vulnerable position. I have been in an emotionally critical place for over a year now.

I will be happy to read your blog. I am at work right now, but I will this evening.

I would still appreaciate any insight you might have about my making this job change. I have to give a decision in the next day or two. Should I do what I want, and stay here where I am or do what I should and take the better but much harder job? I kid you not, the Orange County freeways are a nightmare. But when I lost my job last year, I went through six jobs almost all making a lot less money, sometimes having to travel 37 miles one way, and I don't want to be in that position again.

So I am a little donkey, getting ready to starve to death between two bales of hay. I have no idea what to do. My decision will have a profound effect on the quality of my life down the road, either way. I want to try to do what will bring me the least stress.
