no, it was told to me by a dentist, so you can call the ADA. actually, i would want to see it in writing from them, because taking the ADA's word for anything is pretty crazy beings how they are as bad as the tobacco companies at deceiving the public. It makes sense anyway, because mercury fillings do galavanize, pit and lose quite a bit of mercury in 8 years, and we see cavities under some. if you leave mercury in long enough, it will turn the tooth black or dark gray from the galvanization, and eventually turn the tooth to powder. we have seen that happen, also. i doubt that rule of changing them is something the ADA would want people to know, but Hal Huggins knows it, and probably all of the dental experts and some biologic dentists. You could email Hal Huggins and ask him about it if you want. i don't think it is posted on the net anywhere, though.
