Re: Love does not keep a record of wrongs/ reply by stangeme
I never said it was "vague ambiguous and unreliable". All I'm saying is the whole book can be summed up in a couple of lines.
There is a God. Love God and others like God loves you.
Pretty much everything else in the Bible is commentary by man. Some is good and some needs to be ignored. So I don't believe the Bible is a black ("nonsence") and white ("truth") thing. There are grays ("middle ground") in life and grays in the Bible. That's why Jesus said "seek" not read "the kingdom". I'm not saying there is a middle ground when it comes to believing in God or not. There's only two options there.
Answer this. The Bible says to not kill. Simple, don't kill. It doesn't have "except" anywhere in that statement. It's saying don't kill ANYTHING. Yet in other places it's ok to stone people for various reasons. So which is it, and why would the Bible say two completely contradictory things?
And like you admitted, a angry God and a loving God. Which one again? It's either black or white right? If God says something it's eternally true isn't it? There's only reason for things like that in the Bible. Man. Does it make the fact that there is a God false? Not at all.
Just like in your post on detailed thoughts about why we exist. The guy was talking about the theory of relativity like it's fact. Yet there are a few things that go faster than the speed of light. So the theory as it stands is false. Yet does that make all of
Science false? Not at all.
Like the theory of evolution can't be proven to be true like they claim. Things evolve but not like they claim. Does that make all of
Science nonsence? Not at all.
To say that all of the Bible has to be true or else all of it is false is what atheists say and like I've shown isn't true.
