Yes, this is my sister's child I'm talking about. As far as why she doesn't just directly breast-feed, I have no clue - I've wondered that myself!! She's not working - she is now a sahm. She is mostly feeding with breastmilk, but is suplementing with soy formula since her milk is not as heavy as it should be (as it would be if she was directly nursing). As far as I know, she is not in any distress (mom) and is not at all controlling (not a doormat either though). She doesn't smoke or drink and tries to eat healthy (by the American standards). She never wanted kids, until she got married and consented to having one or two. But I don't think that would be it, since she's a great mom and seems to be very happy about having the baby. Mom gets very distressed when baby is distressed, and fortunately/unfortunately, the medicine is helping baby's symptoms and she is in a better mood and no more colic, so mom and dad think that this is what she should be taking and aren't looking into natural remedies.
