Re: Infant with Acid Reflux?!?! Help!!
bizarre. Why does Mom pump - then bottle feed? This is hard work-- I've done it when I had to -- ( maybe she is under too much stress, that 'pits her against the baby'? Just a thought. I am intuiting that this may be an aspect of the problem.
I cannot 'stomach' (pardon the word) the notion of a baby taking an acid refux drug!!! How sad. And imagine how it moves the baby away from anything supportive.
Is mom working, and thus cannot breast-feed? I am reluctant to place 'blame', as it seems she must have already piled a heap of guilt on herself.. but, this is clearly a problem with what she is taking in food-wise -- or, what she is 'giving out' emotion-wise... it's all in the milk. A mother's resistance to 'feeding' can manifest as a kind of poison for the baby. I remember that if I ate a certain thing that was acidic, I could expect an unhappy baby. (but, during nursing, I almost never had cofee, any alcohol, or whatever else I imagined might be hard on the baby.
God, I am so sorry to hear of a baby getting onto this merry-go-round. As the mother of a son now 22, who was raised with homeopathy etc. it makes me shudder.
I remember my very young son, after receiving a required vaccination- against my heart's sense, telling me he felt as if broken glass was in his palms. He was seven I think, and had to have this shot to carry on in school. He was so distraught! When I reported it, they told me he couldn't possibly have felt such a thing. It was at that point, I chose to turn away from mainstream 'medicine'.
All I can say is: God bless this little child, and the parents too, with insight and Grace.
