Re: Sandover, an easy thing to try for the migraines...
this is from "the complete book of ayurvedic home remedies" by Vasant Lad...
anyway, you said that you had a clear time in the AM before you get your migraines...
"Certain individuals get migraines at midday, which then subside later in the evening. For such individuals, try this preventative method. It may sound too simple, but it is effective. First thing in the morning, take one ripe banana, peel it, chop it into pieces, add one tsp. warm ghee, one teaspoon date sugar, and a pinch of cardamom on top. This is delicious, and it will help to reduce pitta and prevent a headache from arising."
~he says that migraines most frequently occur when systemic pitta moves into the CV system, circulates and affects the blood vessels around the brain. The hot, sharp quality of pitta dilates the blood vessels and creates pressure on the nerves, causing this painful condition. Sounds like the same thing that happens with coffee & FBD!
~he also says to follow a pitta-pacifying diet. Google it, there's all sorts of websites devoted to Ayurveda. Do avoid hot, spicy foods, fermented foods(so much for the yogurt, etc, recommendation!:) and sour or citrus fruits.
Sounds easy enough, the banana thing, hmm? Sounds like a breakfast Elvis would love...:)
