O/T Diet- Paleo, Veg., Blood Type, SCD, Macro, Raw, Aaaargh!
The
Iodine forums seem to have participants who are pretty plugged in to health and do their homework, so thought I would post this question here.
I'm having trouble settling on a correct diet for myself. I had been primarily vegetarian for a number of years, big focus on veggies and some whole grains, hardly anything processed, plenty of raw, but with candida and
parasite problems, despite a lot of cleansing & flushing, homeopathy, antifungals, herbs, etc., I still have some major digestive problems. I imagine this would be easier if I had a healthier bowel.
I am still trying the SCD (specific carbohydrate) diet now for a number of weeks on Newport's suggestion, which means no grains or starchy vegetables, but the addition of home made yogurt and fruit (both of which might not be good for me right now). The first few days were OK, but now I'm incredibly constipated as a result (and taking enough LBB, etc. to clean out a horse), very bloated despite the lack of complex carbs that are supposed to be responsible for feeding bad bacteria and fungus, and low energy after previously feeling great on my low dose
Iodine (from Kelp). With all that vegetable fiber, I can't understand why I'm stopped up.
My husband is a big believer in the
Blood Type Diet , which would go against paleo concept, though paleo makes a lot of sense to me. I'm a type A, and we are supposed to do better as vegetarians, and yet try being veg. without grains or legumes.... I have been eating more meat and fish since doing the SCD, and I almost feel like that might be stopping peristalsis.
I'm about ready to try Body Ecology diet again, which does allow some grains and red potatoes, with a big focus on naturally fermented foods, though I had, and still have, a tough time with the raw kraut, it makes for a huge gas fest.
Any ideas on diet to share?
