That's because you don't think of yourself as the government and because of that some very nasty people get to run things instead of we the people. If that's the way it is then it's already gone - it was lost as soon as everyone began to think of it as outside of themselves. You've been infected with some very nasty memes and that's why you vote against your own best interests. The citizenry dropped the ball and we left it up to someone else - we didn't take our responsibility seriously enough to even vote for Pete's sake and voting is the least of it.. You guys told your sad stories so don't ridicule me for telling mine. I did have a hard time but I didn't let it get me down and I didn't whine and moan about it - I just went to work. All I am saying is I could have used some help without having to be treated like dirt if I took it. It might have benefited more than just my own family, but others as well. I was just trying to use the story to illustrate the fact that when people need some assistance it doesn't mean that they are bad and lazy as you have been led to believe it always does. I was lucky - I was healthy and strong and highly intelligent and capable not to mention White, very attractive and living in a beautiful spot on the planet. Not in the kind of slums and dire circumstances a lot of people do. However I was acutely aware that there was not one drop of assistance for me in the world - I was on my own. I did it without any help except for that 3 months so I deserve some credit as you do for what you have both overcome.

At least in the 60's we still had some hope and we all had some consciousness and compassion - now it doesn't matter what we say anymore - we have been through 2 or 3 generations now who have been so apathetic as to get us where we now are. - the rulers do whatever they want and we have no effect - the democrats and the republicans are all the same and they just put on a fake show for us. Not everyone is asleep though - you guys aren't - you just think that Ron Paul is the answer - I disagree.... Disagreeing is a good thing - not a bad one - it opens up a duologue - that's what I was trying to do. If you have ever listened to very bright people debating about something - they do use irony and they do use even some sarcasm to make their points but they don't stoop to calling each other ridiculous names.

This is actually supposed to be a HEALTH forum but since you brought up a political issue I felt I had a right to my 2 cents as well as you do.

I will not be coming back to read any more of what you have to say - it's as useless and dismaying as it has been for the last 30 years watching us all slip into this inhumane reality we now live in..
