Re: oh by the way...Good points
I take the time to write these LONG things in order to present another viewpoint. So get a grip and have an attention span that lasts more than 3 seconds if you can manage it natural girl.
Your points are well taken Doctor Sutter and I agree. It's a sad situation we find ourselves in. My only point is that all of this is the inevitable outcome of capitalism. That is something that was invented in the 1500's - It may sound good in theory, but what we have here is the result of it. It's a long story - but banks are a part of capitalism. The scum does tend to rise to the top of any hierarchical system. We live in a hierarchical capitalistic society and that is a combustible system. I believe that we would be better off if we could organize ourselves horizontally and dispense with the concept of leadership, we would be a whole lot better off. There are people all over who are practicing this. They are just not so visible to you. I believe that is our only real hope - we need to begin now to live the way we really want to live. To run our own economics the way we want to - there are a lot of underground movements going on - you would have to find it or start it in your own local area. In the sixties we talked about dropping out....
If we ALL did it they couldn't stop us - what do we really value here? what are our needs? I am happy to have a nice place to live - It doesn't need to be fancy just clean and beautiful and warm and sheltering - maybe a little cabin is all I need with a wood stove and garden - a few stainless steel pots etc. I don't need a hummer and I don't need a mansion and I cannot even stand to go into one of those awful mega stores that smells of plastic. I am a creative person and can make most of what I need - it's what I enjoy most anyway. I don't need a tv nor do I own one - it's way too loud and gaudy and I cannot understand why you all hang on to yours so tenaciously. You see that blue glow in every window every night - it's so pathetic. Being with friends and family is what really makes us happy isn't it? And making things or what we call hobbies now. I will gladly walk and ride a bicycle as my transportation. I'm glad to be here in my local area - I don't have to travel far and wide - I'm over it - maybe it's my age but I have been there and done that and it really sucks the life out of us. Having friends and family close to me and a support system where I will not be abandoned if I become ill or encounter some other difficulty and I would not abandon another member of the community who was in need either. In this country it's every man for himself isn't it - If you don't have the do re mi... At least in Europe people are not left to die on emergency room floors if because they can't afford care. How inhumane we have become with our worship of individual rights. We don't even realize that when we do something to help someone else it is we who are gifted.
Capitalism has gotten our values all twisted around - we have taken the pursuit of happiness to mean the right to make huge amounts of money and to exploit anyone and anything to do it. The federal reserve and the 16th amendment are just the symptoms of an intrinsically un-valuable and corrupt way of life and a hierarchical and patrimonial system. Gold is pretty much almost as worthless as paper. You can't eat it - you can't burn it for fuel - You CAN use it as a raw material to make stuff out of but so what - it's really just another kind of money. Most people don't want to think this way because they are not willing to pare down their life styles in this manner. I pity them because when push comes to shove they are going to be the losers and they are going to turn violent and fight with each other for precious resources that will not be any longer available to them in their suburban enclaves (especially in the deserts) and gated communities if the trucks stop rolling when the oil runs out.. They won't have a clue how to survive. They will call me a socialist for this viewpoint. Listening to propaganda is the reason why. So be it - I don't care what you call me you can say I'm a liberal but I'm not - liberals are capitalists and I am not one of those. Say I'm a dummy if you wish or tell me to get a grip - I don't care. I'm out of it and if they decide the blow the whole thing up I will be living the kind of lifestyle I think is really valuable in the meantime and when I die I will know that I did my best. I am dropping out a bit more each day...
I would simply like to suggest that we all do before it is too late or even if it already is. Afraid is exactly what they want you to be.
