Hi Fiona
I do not know how much I really feel leaky gut plays in my current condition. About a year ago I felt I was far far worse off with leaky gut. I had reactions right after eating things and I think that could have been leaky gut. But now I really do not have such reactions any longer. My candida was def. systemic the first time. I had it everywhere, vaginal, thrush, anxiety, pressure in my head, dizziness, sore throats constantly, and feeling off balance. It was aweful.
I really feel , after much experimenting, that alot of my trouble has to do with mineral deficiences. I could go down a long list of symptoms and what correlates to what. If I do not take my vits and mins I go downhill really fast. And I have to drink tons of water. Now this could be because the minerals are neutralizing acids or it could be deificiences, both are pretty much the same thing.
All I know is that the symptoms I have that got really bad 8-12 months ago were the same symptoms I had had for about 2-3 years. But before they would bother me for a few hours and then subside and they were not that bad and were unrelated to food. In the back of my mind I knew it was candida. But I thought all I needed to do was diet and eat yogurt like I did before. While wasting time it got lots worse and hit me like a ton of bricks. Lesson learned.
As far as diet goes, I really do not think that pumpkin seeds, or sesame seeds are feeding it. As I said earlier, after a long while on the diet it does become immune and learn to survive. Otherwise we would see it pouring out of us as soon as we chnage our diets. Pumpkin seeds are actually recommended as they have
parasite killing properties and contain lots of magnesium , so critical for those with candida.
Be careful not to starve yourself to try to get at candida. I went that route too and all it did was weaken me. But candida survived, because it adapts. As long as your yogurt is fermented 24 hours and tastes tart you are fine. The benefits far outweigh. IN any case I eat yogurt all the time as you do, homemade 24 hr. And I am still chock full of candida and I have no reaction to it at all.
I know this because I slowly eliminated the buckwheat, yogurt, p b & c shakes. I played around until I realized exactly why I would feel aweful. It was NOT the yogurt or shakes, it was all about the amount of water I was drinking. There is no question about it. Sounds like you are where I was about a month or so ago. So I tested things. You could do that too for piece of mind if you like. It will help you to learn what you body is asking you for or reacting to.
I might add, Jhan is a smart cookie and she knows lots about candida. We do differ in opinion on certain things most likely from our own personal experiences. But I always keep her thoughts and advice fresh in my mind. Keep her words open as an option. Close mindedness got me sick, so I choose now to listen and keep ideas open as possibilites. It could well be possible that a bad die off reaction occurs due to deficiences. That would go along with what I believe to be my case entirely. However, candida causes the deficiences to begin with and in my case I am taking the max load of vits and min everyday without fail. There is literally no more I could do in that dept without overdosing. So I have taken the approach to get rid of the precipitator. I have suffered thru die off both times. And it is horrible. But I think it is a good sign. I like to feel as I know I am succeeding.
It soudns liem you are doing exactly what you need to be doing? Are you doing enemas? What are you seeing? What antifungal are you taking? How is your die off with it?
