i know its been a few yrs since you posted this but i thought id see how you have come along in the last few yrs. perioral dermatitis can be derived from many things and many underlining conditions. thou im not a real dr i read enought to know a few things about a few things. i have this condition myself and had to figure it out all on my own. as drs for the most part arnt intune with eveything out there unless it smacks em in the face. this condition can root from candida infection which is yeast over growth which would be caused by
Antibiotics and diet so getting that under control would not only clear your yeast infection up it clear your
Acne up aswell. and hopfull the root cause of the PD. im not one for meds im more for avoidance. finding triggers and staying away from them. if there is a yeast issue following a candida diet and doing a cleasnse would be the first thing second is knowing the common things that trigger the blood vessels to dialate and cause that burning painful inflamation. shampoos, conditions, laundry soaps, facial soaps and cleansers that contain (SLS) sodium lauryl sulfate are one of the bigger triggers there what makes products all bubbly to make us feel there doing a cleaning job when there not needed at all. as well as (ALS) ammonium laruyl sulfate found in many of those same things as well as facial creams. there is also talk about floride being a trigger so if you have changed all this and still have breakouts then going to a toothpaste without flurides like sensodine may be what you need, or just brush with baking soda like in the old days. some other triggers are caffine, hot n/or spicey foods and alcohol.. i find with myself moderation is key with coffee and alcohol, once in a while maybe a cup of coffee and once a month a glass of wine doesnt seem to bother me. things i know trigger myself are dairy products, milk, cheese, sourcream, yogurt, also any citrus fruit is instant pain and cinnamin is slight but ok if in moderation any yeast product or formended foos product oh( sour dough how i miss you). ive found that titamium dioxide in sunscreens makes me react as well as aluminum in anything.. so check your deoderant cause its in there. another one ppl dont think about is steric acid.. its derived from cottonseed oil and palm oil and ive found its a trigger and it can be found it creams and even that little moisturizer on your razor. so if u find you react after shaving you need to find one without which the only one i found was venus spa breeze.
after six months of driving my dr loonie in and out of her office with the same result... your fine your better than healthy i have figuired it out.. but we all must be persistant casue we know our bodies better than anyone else. thank goodness for the internet
