MoreGuess there is no stronger kinship then a Mommie and her baby son.He is of the oppsite sex but God and nature kicks in so quick to naturally guide a Mommie. So being so newly married I sense the great love Moms who have their baby boys circicumcised and those who do not.Yep I learn from both sides.I incline to the pro foreskin side but love and respect you Moms who and your sons circumcised .But hey Moms share more on this forum so young married me can learn. I carefully worded my posts to show respect to both sides on the baby circumcision issue.Certainly most mothers who have their babies circumcised want the best for their baby boys and are not part of some huge pro circumcision crusade. I tried to be moderate in my posts and head off fanatics from both sides on this issue. So you drop all your loaded adjective quotes how terrible graphically terribel baby circumcision is. Hey I know that and many new moms arelearning that too . Being anti baby circumcision is not a religious cult issue with me but rather a well reasoned thought out intellectual issue too. So yes within that context I reach out to the average well meaning Mommie who had her baby boy circumcised and say I understand .Heck am I to give these well meaning moms your adjective condemnation when the majority of them simply cared for their sons so much. Hey these good mommies are not rocket circumcision specialists so damn it loosen on them and me. Love.

Sorry but dear sweet mommys who mutilate the genitals of their little boys are not so dear, not so sweet and oh but a tad ignorant.
Most of the time it is done because they haven't taken a moment to think for themselves and just do it because every penis they have known has had it done to it.
Look at some of the posts on this forum. Those who post for circumcision usually say it is for cleanliness sake. I also love the comments that say they have to have it done so that Jr. will look like his father.
I'm also amazed at how fast dennyooo gets punctuation and can put an actual readable sentence together when defending her/hiself.

This is a reply to # 415,207And what is the real issue one say yes one says no. Their son will no doubt grow up healthy and become a man. Whether he is circumcised or not. If you were taking away from him to where he was no longer a male then I might cry fowl too. This is a routine proceedure and PROPERLY carried out will have no problems.
Let him be a happy child either way. all this fussing over over a minute issue will create a psycological isssues for him later to contend with. Quit crying over spilled milk wipe it up and go on.
The only thing I really see barbaric in the world is the crazy wars we fight for ignorant things. Barbaric is the cruel conditions some children and families have to live with in other countries. Think when lives are scarificed to justify some dictators own pride.
Let us all focus on trying to make the world a better place for evryone to enjoy the freedoms that we have.
One final question does circumcision make the child any less of a boy?

Depends how you look at it. You could say the same about female "circumcision" which is routinely carried out in many parts of the world and is routinely carried out among certain ethnic and religious groups in the US too. But I'm very glad that I have my complete genitals and I prefer them the way they are naturally. I would have lost something very precious and a source of great pleasure if my labia and clitoris had been removed.
Now, I know you'll say that a circumcised guy still has a penis -- but the trouble is that all he's left with is an insensitive blunt instrument with a leathery, desensitized head. And it's not only the guy that's lost something -- it's the woman into whom that blunt instrument will be inserted -- she's lost the pleasure that only a probing, moist head, sensitive glans gives. - Re: stoppppp ! ! ! ! ! I have to disagree. This proceedure has problems 100% of the time. Long term there will always be a growth of callus over the glans resulting in less sensitivity. That is a known fact and there is little room for debate on that point.
Besides that there are many other problems that are common when circumcision is preformed by what is called a qualified doctor.

Was everything fine or were any problems just not talked about? Nobody talking about complications or very few people knowing about complications and problems does not make them fine. The problems were still there but they just were not talked about.
Also you say to look back 40- 50 years. Lets look back a bit further.
80 - 100 years ago almost 100% of the population was uncircumcised and everything was fine. Also lets have a look at europe. Their standard of health care is considered to be much better than here in the US and the rate of circumcision there is VERY low and again everything is fine.

Therefore you think at very least that we should drive up health care costs and insurance costs by preforming unneeded surgery rutinely. I cannot understand that.
Is there any other unneeded surgery that you think should be preformed rutinely or is circumcision in some special catagory and if so for what reason?

That tends to imply that very often this proceedure is not done properly and once again I have to ask why do it at all? As far as I know females are circumsized in some African tribes by Animists, Christians, and Muslims. So the religion does not matter, what only matters is the tribe that you belong to...

True. And for the sake of those who don't know, sunna circumcision involves removing either just the clitoral hood or the hood plus the tip of the clitoris. And in at least some parts of the world (mainly North Africa and the Middle East) where this form of circumcision is practiced, it's argued that where it's not done, the size and configuration of the clitoris interferes with intercourse.
With regard to the more extreme forms of female circumcision, it's argued that infibulation simply amounts to a simplification of the female genital area.
Two other things are worth noting -- it's almost always females who are involved in carrying out the female circumcision or infibulation and it's often done in hospitals.
So how is it fundamentally different from the male circumcision as practiced in the US, other than that it's normally carried out on older children or young adults?

This is a reply to # 415,265Again, Islam does not recommend/justify female circumcision. Indeed there are many writings that are against it. Likewise, Christianity and Judaism do not encourage female circumcision as well.
Female circumcision preceded Judaism, Christianity and Islam in those cultures that still practice it.
Those cultures that practice female circumcision used to bury their newly born female children alive, since they did not want the 'shame' of having a daughter enjoying a normal adult woman life. What Islam did was to forbid the burial of baby girls, and to ABOLISH the cruel female circumcision.
If some of the cultures are still practising female circumcision even though they became muslims or christians, this cannot be attributed to their brand new religons, but to their centuries old traditions and practices.

This is a reply to # 415,197I have 2 boys. The first one, I caved with family/peer pressure and circumcised...all the while silently screaming "no" to myself. The second boy that I had 3 years later I did NOT circumcise. Never had a second thought about it. I went through a period of almost grief for what I put my oldest through. We have taught the younger one (and older one for that matter) all about cleaning and the importance of it.

This is a reply to # 415,197Young moms? What about the dads? They are the ones that have to live with the results of circumcision or noncircumcision! What does a mom know about living with a penis? All knows is what she sees, totally different than HAVING one! Ask some of the older men, the ones that have lived with the results, had the diseases, felt the ridicule, cared for the infections because not all moms teach their sons how to clean themselves properly, then the poor boys become men and have to live with the ignorance that was shown them, and not knowing how to properly clean the penis everyday-often.
It's clear that a board is not going to educate those with their minds made up. Just look at the facts WITH AN OPEN MIND. Then make an educated choice.
