Dallas Theological Seminary would be proud of you both, but time will tell who's on the right side of this 'non-debate'. I'm happy to bide mine until you are both proved wrong.
Happy New Year.
Actually, I'm a lot more laid back & sanguine about what others believe on this topic than you might think. I almost made a comment about that 3rd Temple instead, but then thought better of it. What's the point? If these '3rd Templars' haven't yet understood that the church is the antitype that fulfils the type represented by the original temple, then nothing I say/write is gonna change that. In the end, this is a truth that can only persuade by virtue of its own merit, as defined by its NT explication.
Just watch those 3rd Temple prophecies reach fever pitch in 2018, the 70th anniversary of the founding of the modern state of Israel. 70 years no less - an entire Biblical generation. Remember Jesus' words about 'this generation' still being alive when all these signs will be fulfilled? Poor old Hal Lindsay only got it wrong coz he got his generations mixed up. If only he stuck to the Biblical definition, he would still have a dog in the race.
The editing is still going on, but hadta take a bit of a back seat recently for various reasons. I'm about halfway through 1Cor., but not working thru a canonical order, so meaningless in terms of total throughput. Fortunately for me, he's a patient guy who accepts the occasional 'work to rule'.
BTW, on the subject of creation, he also wrote a fascinating book on cosmology that he also sent me as a pdf attachment. Will defo read it when I have the time.
You should read it too. I think you'll find it very interesting.
His dignity probably took a bigger hit than his teeth. Still, ................ouch!
Not only will it not do to get angry & shouty about it, but to do so over any subject is more likely to be counterproductive. Note, for example, how rainy admits the possibility that we might be right. Would she have done that if I just shot her down in flames for posting that link?
On a completely different subject, it's absolutely fascinating to see what's going on in Iran right now, & I think that is potentially far more significant than Trump recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Iranians are among the most oppressed ppl on Earth, and there's only so much even they will take from the so-called 'morality police' and Ayatollahs.
When the ppl are no longer afraid of bullets, anything is possible.
Thanks Refreshed - επίσης.
No, didn't get mine either. The missus reckons I've got enough to read for now, and she's not wrong. Among other things, she got me another book instead by Brian Cox & Jeff Forshaw -
...also a subject of interest to me. She reckons it will keep me busy enough until my b/day in July, when she plans to get me the book by Menn. Fortunately, I'm fairly patient, so I don't mind the delay. Does kinda destroy the surprise element tho., but still looking fwd to getting it just the same.
We also got the Riddlebarger book for my son-in-law, which was quite sneaky/cheeky of us, coz I'll have that to read as well - just as soon as he's done reading it. I managed to read 5 chapters before giving it to him, so you might say unfinished business. I quite like his approach to the subject, and I have him to thank for that Lindsay quote that calls me a heretic.
I've never felt so honoured in all my life!
So you're waiting for 'earth shattering' from me are ya? You might be confusing me with the second coming, which I'm sure will fit that bill. Then again, I promised vekky a few 'humdingers', and I usually keep my promises - eventually.
Both Jonathan Menn and Kim Riddlebarger are American authors, as is Dean Davis, whose book I recommended for Vekky's dad. Ironic, innit, that the best extant books on the subject hail from the land of 'left behind' and '3rd Templars'? So as you can see, Finalism is not some fringe backwater conspiracy concocted in ye Oldey Worlde to deprive you lot of your escape (or is it sanity?) clause or millennial blessings. In any case, wasn't it Chico who once said there was no such thing as Sanity Clause?

Oh yeah, that's right - it was him. So yeah, I'm personally glad to note there are still a few good men left in the good ol' USA who haven't been swept away by this 'insanity'. As for reviews, I may well post them to Amazon, then link them on the forum, but that won't be anytime soon.
Meantime, you could do a lot worse than read some of the reviews on Amazon if you're that interested. You might even find a couple of my comments there.
PS For the avoidance of doubt, I should also point out that there are at least a dozen other current or recent US authors that I know of (and probably quite a few more besides) who write in similar vein. It's just that these 3 quite possibly represent the best that Finalism has to offer. And even that doesn't take into account the many more US authors of earlier generations who wrote on the same subject.
True, their combined output still pales into insignificance when compared to the total output of the 'left behind' brigade, but what we lack in volume is more than compensated for by the quality of our material. Dean Davis' book, for example (The High King of Heaven), will hold its worth long after the half doz. or so works of fiction that are hawked here:

.......have yet again proved themselves to be worthy of the bonfire of vanities by the simple expediency of the passage of time.
A bit too dull for my tastes. Give me Blood Moons and Trump = Messiah any day. What? You think I'm kiddin'? Then if you can get past his trapperesque language, here's your fix of endtime lunacy to get those eschatological juices flowing for 2018:

and

......coz you can bet your bottom dollar there'll be a lot more of this kinda garbage on offer during 2018. And 2019, 2020, 2021.... well, ya catch my drift, right?
But I hafta admit that I find it kinda ironic that when it comes to these endtime 'prophets', I have a lot more in common with this foul-mouthed atheist than with either you or Rainy.
A sad state of affairs indeed.
