I wanted to share a treatment I was experimenting with last month.
I read veterinary research (I believe the link was in one of Sharkman's posts) regarding the action and effectiveness of different antiparasitic agents. There were 4 main ones: albendazole-type, ivermectin-type, pyrantel pomoate and nitazoxanide (alinia). nitazoxanide was the only one of the 4 whose action was different. The first 3, the more meds you took the greater the kill. Apparently, according to this research, nitazoxanide at lower doses did almost nothing, but at a higher dose (it did not specify how high) it could kill in one day.
So, I decided to try a higher dose of nitazoxanide. I took 1000 mg twice a day for a total of 2000 mg/day. The usual dose is 500 mg.
I took this for 5 days. I did not experience any adverse reactions. On day 6 I took one 1030 mg magnesium sulfate capsule to flush my liver .
I did not have a BM for 2 days, and when I did, I was shocked. NO BILE!! What came down the pike was just chewed up food as it must have come from my stomach. This went on for 2 days.
I was really scared. I did not know if my liver had shut down or if ALL my bile ducts were plugged. Finally things broke loose and there was bile again. I passed all kinds of stuff over the next couple of days (not visible worms). I thought it might be liver flukes.
At any rate, in retrospect, I think the nitazoxanide must have been very effective for whatever I still have, and I should probably take some again. But, for the first time in my parasite battles, I feel fear! I'm thinking about just taking it one day at 2000 mg and taking a magnesium sulfate capsule during the day.
These are tablets I received from India at a VERY low cost.
Has anyone else tried a similar dose of nitazoxanide? Any feedback would be good.

If your food is coming through without being digested your digestive system is shutting down.
Everybody is looking for a silver bullet.
There isn't one.
Even if you killed the all off, they would be back a month later,
because they are ubiquitous. They are every where. Once a host,
always a host.
If they are microscopic, your white blood cells, immune system, can only clean up a certain amount at a time. If you kill off too many, your white blood cells will be vomiting toxins and still surrounded with them. You could poison yourself and die from the toxemia.
You will make a lot more progress quicker, especially on the microscopic ones, if you put 5-10 drops of dewormer in a cup of tea and sip tea all day long. Keep a cup by your bed and sip it at night too. If you overwhelm your body, it shuts down and nothing happens. Give the body a little at a time and it will clean clean clean up your blood. If you watch white blood cells with a microscope, they will really go to work cleaning up what the herbs kill off. But if you kill of too much, they become engorged and sluggish and they will completely shut down if you overwhelm them. For big worms in the gut, put your dewormer in enema water, insert cloves of garlic in your anus, leave it all day if you can.

This is a reply to # 2,292,877Thanks for your advice. I hope you're wrong when you say "once a host, always a host". Has this been the case for you?
I am infested with many, ever-changing parasites. Worms are no longer the primary problem. I have no idea what the root cause of all this mess is but it's pointing to a compromisied immune system. While I don't have AIDS, the dose of nitazoxanide I took is what those with compromised immune systems take, for instance, HIV patients receive 1000 mg two times a day for 14 days for cryptosporidium. This drug is supposed to be low danger for the liver, so I just don't understand what happened.
Six years ago I had histoplasmosis which is a fungus. I've been diagnosed with Lyme and microsporidia in the past 2 years. I'm not confident that I have either of these problems.
I'm not a believer in herbs since they caused my initial worm dissemination.

This is a reply to # 2,293,105If you can move them, you can move them out of the body. So scattering is good, because you know you have found something they hate that works. You probably have multiple co-infections, including everything they have found. People start getting things when they are kids. Parents cannot even use the public schools without submitting their children to toxic vaccines that may do a whole lot more damage than the diseases they are intended to prevent. Nobody wants to do parasite cleansing because it is not any fun. That is why they wait until they are so miserable they are worried about dying to start. Then they want a cure to happen in two weeks. After many years of chronic illness, your body might not be able to detoxify that quickly without shutting down and dying. That is why AMA says there is no cure. I say that, but I am the one who refused their treatment when they told me the good news was that my emphysema was in the early stages and completely curable. So now I cough a whole lot. This is a reply to # 2,293,105It is my understanding that homeopathic remedies and herbs and CS and things like that can/will cleanse your blood stream and strengthen your immunity. If you take the route of purification far enough, you will become less and less vulnerable to opportunistic infections. It begins with waging an all out war on the pathogens that are making your body sick and committing to extermination, the same way you would not let terminates tear down your house. Your body is even more precious. If pathogens cannot be cultivated to symbiotic standards, it is wise to eliminate them. Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists.
If you afraid and imagine all of the reasons and ways that it could not be your fault, you must not exist. I have been told to stop being a victim. That is how I know.
Perhaps due to the fear of success, or the fear of dying, or the mistrust of internal voices, or the trust of audible voices, or all of those things combined, the fate is sealed and people are destined to die. It is a shame.
There are days when I feel so wonderful that I am certain I am on the verge of a full-body spontaneous die off and about to feel a sense of relief, then peace. And finally, once and for all, it would be nice for that to happen.
If those butt itch worms ever turn loose of my ass completely, and stop coming back, I will publicly declare it a major victory. But how do you ever know for sure???
I went nearly six months without them biting on my ass hole one time. For a while I thought I might be cured. But I got another one and haven't been able to get rid of them since.
I still believe it is possible. That's why I don't stop trying. One time I decided to stop fighting and let it go. I developed a floater so big that I thought I was going blind.

This is a reply to # 2,292,824Zap for pity sake---it doesn't hurt--it'll only help or not, but ONLY if your problem is actually parasites. So much illness today, the really bad stuff are infections (from the parasites, true) or those environmental toxins. Poisoning can hurt, A LOT.
I'm with glaxony--I think it's far more likely it's interfering with your digestion, versus plugging up your liver. Stop killing yourself with drugs, please.
What kind of symptoms would ever provoke you to try such an awful dangerous poison, anyway?? Look at Dr. Clark's book---she discuss the environmental poisoning issues, although not as clearly as the parasite one. It can give you some clues at least.

Because I listened to people on forums who shouted me down, and even said I was lying about dosage, I am still not totally cured.
Don' take action while the fear is there, as it alone can cause you to be unsure.
Do not give up what YOU KNOW is working and do not DISBELIEVE yourself.
Write it all out in point form and put it up on your wall to observe as you walk by.
Then when you feel calm and in control again in hours or days, YOU will know what is the next best step to take.
I wish you a safe and sensible trial of what you feel is a viable option for yourself.
......and I don't expect to be blasted for this opinion from anyone else. It is a valid opinion as well.

And definitely don't take any action while you're afraid. That emotional state mostly blocks your access to the rest of your feelings and your common sense.
And be open to input because others can see things you're in denial about. Evaluate all information. But make your own decision, after weighing all that input. Don't let anyone intimidate you in to trying or doing things you suspect are going to be harmful.
And make sure it *is* working for you in a health promoting way (as you can assume no 'drug' ever will.) 'Drugs' may temporarily seem to 'fix' stuff but they plan them to always damage you so you need another drug to 'protect' or 'fix' you. Like the cat in the hat---it fixes that one thing but breaks it somewhere else, from my ancient history experience.
And of course, this is MY input, based on life experience and having regained my health. Others are entirely entitled to theirs, of course.

This is a reply to # 2,292,824I did not try the high dose but I did 400 mg twice a day for 20 days. I took albendazole for 10 days then switched to alinia for 20 days then went right back onto albendazole to finish the 5 days and this is what killed my large Ascaris worm. It was in the small intestine. It was at least 5 inches long and fat. It made a ruckus when it died. I didnt know I had it so I was in shock when it came out. I knew there was something blocking the small intestine though. I felt that the alina worked well to kill pinworms. I found the alina easier to tolerate. It is not supposed to be hard on your liver.

This is a reply to # 2,292,930Alinia seems effective for me, when I take it I feel like it is hitting something but it seems hard on my body. A few weeks ago I took one dose and it caused me a litlte chest discomfort. I wish I could handle it because it seems like one of the most effective medications I've taken.

This is a reply to # 2,292,824I have taken Alinia at that dose for several days as well as at 750mg per dose twice a day for a week. Didn't do much for me that I could tell except for the first time. Maybe it was the mag that messed up your digestion?

This is a reply to # 2,293,120Since I'm not a chemist, I cannot attest to the quality of U.S. prescription drugs compared to those from India.
I can say that Alinia (nitazoxanide) by prescription costs $30 for a 500 mg tablet. Whereas from India a 500 mg tablet cost $.25. The standard dosage is two 500 mg tablets per day for a cost of $60 by prescription vs. 50 US cents for the India drug.
I have taken drugs from Thailand, Vietnam, India, Mexico and U.S. I have not experienced a problem with any of them.

i think the high-dose nitazoxanide killed off a lot of your good bacteria. i had similar experience 8-9 years ago when i took a 3 week course of tetracycline pills. at the end of those 3 weeks food was passing thru me totally undigested - carrot particles bright orange, pieces of lettuce looked as fresh and green and crisp as they did before i ate them.
i didnt have health problems before the tetracycline but i began to soon after. my teeth started falling apart, have had 5 root canals since.

This is a reply to # 2,293,528Actually I don't think the nitazoxanide has hurt me in any way. I am completing this evening my 2nd 5-day course of 2,000 mg/day of nitazoxanide. My digestion does not seem to be harmed.
I have not experienced any lack of bile problems this time around. This confirms my belief that bile duct blockage occurred the first course due to heavy parasite kill.
I was careful to take 1,030 mg magnesium sulfate daily to assist with liver detox (per mattk3's advice).
I am convinced, for myself, that 500 mg nitazoxanide (usual dosage) is not enough. I have taken this amount several times during the last 3 years. I can't comment on 750 mg dosage since I haven't tried it.
But I have experienced noticeable improvement recently. For one thing, I have slept straight through the night for the last 2 nights. The glands in my neck are the smallest they've been in 2 years. I thought about stopping after 3 days, but whatever is in my back muscle seemed to be a little weaker. I did not want to stop and allow whatever it is to regain it's strength.

This is a reply to # 2,294,064Seems to be working. When I first started taking it the results were more obvious. In one of his many posts, Mattk3 talked about the color of the stool and what it meant. Now that my liver is less congested, it's harder to tell.
I take it mid-morning between breakfast and lunch.

As I said, my belief is that so many pathogens were killed that my bile ducts plugged. I don't believe my liver itself was harmed.
When you have multiple pathogens, some medications kill one thing and other medications kill something else.
These courses of nitazoxanide cleared many unidentifiable pathogens from my colon that no other medication had touched.
I am almost normal now. Only one other problem which I haven't figured out how to eliminate yet.
To be on the safe side with the high dose nitazoxanide, you could take it for a day (2 doses) with the magnesium during the day. Skip a day, then repeat.

Hi, just read through theforum here and thought I would share some info about parasite cleansing! I have tried this myself and it works for parasites and for heavy metal detox....
