"Naturally, your body will tell you what it needs, and you will be amazed by how you feel, and look."
I agree, have done this for some time. But why does this work? If one look at the chinese medicine you can find the tongue reflecting the whole body, like reflexology. Each part has a different area that needs a different taste, sweet, salt, bitter etc. To support different organs in the body.
I have a craving for something bitter daily, "hate" sweets until I suddenly need some.
if one look at the internet, not much support for this way of thinking.
It is all about "self control" have that bit of choclate but only one etc. Quasi-self trust articles that all points out you cant trust your body. Media owners doesnt want us to trust ourselves.
When I tell people I eat what I crave, they frequently say; oh then I would have had choclate all the time, and chips.
- of course. The body has been rejected, over looked, distrusted for long, and if not very healthy it will go for the quick fix.
Lets take chocolate craving; almost all women I know of crave this. They say it may be a magnesium craving behind it. May be true.
I was one of the first in this country to eat raw chocolate beans. Had a taste of it in UK five years ago, and needed it badly. Imported it. It was my breakfast for a couple of years, together with goji berries.
After I supplemented with magnesium and managed to get the right level for it, I cant have it anymore, or as seldom as once a month, or less.
If one supplement the body with all it needs of minerals and a bare minimum of vitamins, your cravings will change. If you add real food it will change. IMO you can have anything you want, only make it from scratch, with as toxic free ingredients as possible. This is the real challenge.
My kids have changed lately, we are quite in tune of what we want, but they crave much more sweets than I do. If they want cake I say; make one. With only good ingredients in the house, I dont limit it much, unless it is right before dinner.
I actually let them have it, but make sure that the whole palate of tastes are given within a week. btw; Bitter is the last taste to be developed in kids.
