I have to fast for 55 days. this is not an option.
starting weight 231
goal weight 175
Seems like your reason for fasting is just weight loss, and judging by your past results that hasn't been enough to motivate you. In other words, you really don't want to fast, but it is merely a means to an end.
My suggestion is to forget about Pizza, and start eating more fruits, and vegetables, and drink green smoothies. Do this for a couple of weeks.
Then shoot for fasts that are more reasonable to build your confidence.
Yes, I know it isn't what you wanted to hear. Sorry.
Others here have given good advice. You might want to look at

It is one of my very rare spiritual posts, but you can ignore that if you are concerned with the material side of things. The fact is though... "A common scenario is for someone to break the fast after a few days due to the pressures of life, and then binge on comfort food"
I suspect you will be doing that too, unless you change your lifestyle to prepare for the fast.
Oh and here's a success story for you - me.
Weights are in kilograms, multiply by 2.2 for pounds. Good luck, and if the first fast doesn't work out, don't give up, come back here and keep trying. Oh and you drink water only on a water fast.
also wouldn't fasting HELP deal with eating disorders?
Eating the wrong kinds of foods could hardly be classified as an eating disorder in the true sense of the word. You can fast and lose weight, but if you go back to your old habits of eating fattening foods all hours of the day and night, you will gain back what you lost. Better to change the eating habits first.
might i remind that any of us who engage in fasting would probably get labelled with an "eating disorder" if we were to confide this to a mainstream doctor.
I think most here on this forum have had enough of what main stream doctors have to say. That's why we're here. That's not to say that doctors don't have a place for traumatic situations, but most stick pretty much to what they learned in medical school, just recently accepting accupuncture, and chiropractic health systems.
After as many fasts as I have done I wouldn't care if they thought it was an eating disorder. I know better.
i really don't think it matters whether you change your bad eating habits before or after your fast... just so long as you change them, PERIOD.
Can't argue with that. However if you have bad eating habits, you are likely to revert back to them after the fast.
If an effort is made to get that under control prior to the fast making them the "new" habit, you will have a much better chance to succeed in my opinion.
