Seminar for Whole Children

Waldorf Schools, an interesting training in fundraising.

I spent all day yesterday and into the night with K-8, Rudolf Steiner's Waldorf School teachers and parents...(Schuggell, where are you?) I was invited for training at a How To: Workshop on fundraising, capital campaigns, bequests & trusts for this gentle childhood education. I am impressed by the level of intuitive intelligence each of these parents and the administrator's has for the innate intelligence of their children. The basic trust that the child will learn by being included in activities and projects that the teacher carefully plans to demonstrate a cross section of related English, Math, and other "subjects"~ demonstrated through say~ planting of corn in the biodynamic garden.

It is exciting to have such love and trust in the "nature" of things(Emersonian?)- and to work with and for children. Of course, the drawback is the salary is so low that it is hardly livable-so that just dictates that I create other streams of cash flow. I will NOT be lead astray from heart resonation due to money. There is a seed of truth that I am planting to grow me in the larger path of my heart.

Now that I have fallen in love with the idea of the charitable cause, I have not been offered the position.... I must wait and see....There is an ex-Waldorf teacher fellow interested in the Development Director position also-so we shall see! (I am so much sweeter, and cuter, and dynamic-REALLY!) The third scenario is that the school will decide they cannot afford the Development Director position at all.

Not "being able to afford" is short term thinking, but many small grassroots not-for-profits choose risk stagnation over faith of funds. Administrators have their story, and fiduciary responsibilities to staff, parents, the children, etc.

So I sat in the room at Sanderling School from 9am-5pm and playedwell with others...and picked up on a few training structures: Much as with Path of the Buddha-and the experiential embodiment of learning "at the cellular level" we had active cooperative tasks that acted as metaphor for group learning dynamics- also coalesced the group and strengthened the connection and comfort levels. Everytime we were asked to evaluate the experience we were always asked "What did you feel" or "How did you feel" first, THEN "What did you think" next. I am taking notes for experiential training/seminars for the big bad ol' corporate world-and I think it will be in the financial sector-but I am getting ahead of myself. There I go thinking again!

I am hoping it will be revealed to me (soon-impatience?) what sector of the population-at-large this type of training will best serve. I have the deepest impression the financial sector needs to be "fixed" in the worst way- but this is not necessarily the truthful answer for the modality. I am full of opinions, the "Iron Fist Mind" has horsepower and high octane flammable opinions. I am always having to watch myself!

I just lost 2 paragraphs of describing my competition for the Development Director position at Waldorf, and more ideas on funding options for the self same...very interesting-Divine Intervention? Time to quit while ahead?

Good Enough, see you next time.
