Talent Contest
Talent Show finally arrives, and a great potluck to boot.
Date: 5/22/2005 8:01:40 PM ( 19 y ) ... viewed 1451 times Last night was the talent show that has been on the calendar since Leslie's Passover dinner. Last night was my BIG Debut-as psychic extraordinaire!
And, although, this group has been gathering together for over 10 years, and are familiar with each other and their many talents-they volunteered me to go first. The mental picture that assailed me was that of a line of military recruits with a "Captain Hulka" demanding volunteers- As if on que everyone steps back leaving one poor fool~me~ stuck out in the original position! Yes, that was pretty much how it went.
Our hostess, Anne, prefaced my introduction with "and since we know ____(me)___, is outgoing we are having her go first". A set up job if I ever saw one! But "thee doth protest too much", since I am, in fact, Grade A Canned Ham, and Anne had it pretty much right-I LOVE the spotlight! So for the pleasure of myself and 20 new friends, I debuted my psychic talents-such as they are.
I did an exercise that I'd "aced" while at 'Ramtha's School for Enlightenment'. "Sending and Receiving". I picked a hapless stranger from the audience. Let me back up a little- Let's paint the scene...Anne's backyard, complete with a 10X10 ft portable parquet dance floor-bespeaking of the talents yet to come. Chairs- 20 or so surrounding the dance floor- I drag 2 chairs onto the center of the dance floor.
I picked a lady from the audience~ I'd espied her playing with Donatello-a little boy of 21/2..I intuited her fun, care, and restraint for the boy. It was clear she believed in keeping a loving eye on him, but not smothering him. She only interacted when something with the children had gone awry- I liked her style.
As a preparation for my showcase of talents she and I locked eyes for a minute, I was surprised when it was difficult for her to look me in the eye. I understand intimacy with strangers can be uncomfortable. We finally "connect" for 15 seconds and I realize she is slightly uncomfortable with my physical nearness also-we are faced toward each other in lawn chairs -with 4-5 inches between our knees-not that close-I am a hugger and toucher-so this seems pretty far away to me. For the purposes of the demonstration nearness is an advantage. Ah, but the fleeting connection will be enough. I move my chair back and turn and face the other direction-I can feel her relief (???) I am picking up more than the demonstration requires!
So I proceed to give her directions, think-pictorially-of an item of clothing-picture it in your 3rd eye- she does not understand the term- She asks-"Can I write it" (it is clear she has already done just that) "No, you can not! The literal mind is visual-"See" an item of clothing in your mind's eye" Ok she does understand or pretends to understand this...I see pants, she a sweater-but there has been some confusion of terms so I am not discouraged. "Next see a object that represents a U.S. holiday in your mind's eye" She gets it now..Yes, we both get a pine tree-Xmas.
Now we change duties, she sends and I receive (which I was not as good with at Ramtha's) she says "a food", I do an apple-she a chicken leg-at this point I realize I should've narrowed the category with a fruit, vege, or animal. Next she picks (coincidentally) an animal, I name a hoofed animal with horns, she a horse-
We went on for another set of 4, and we finally calmed down and got 3 matches in a row. I was not surprised, but the rest of the group began to look at me 'differently' ~funny. Through the evening there were jokes about "sending and receiving" and jokes about my reading the guys minds, etc. Either I am not interested in reading their minds or I can not~but I didn't bother to clue them in on that. Give them something to think about !
From this I came to find out there were 2 women who are pretty accomplished psychics! But I didn't pick them, so I do not know what that would have looked like~probably pretty interesting!
Next up, an Akido martial arts demo. I've noticed this one before, he moves with grace and has long hair done up in one of those "cut short in back, with a pony tail". He showed us ladies how to "frwrap" an attacker(=hard flick of the wrist with index and middle finger hitting the eye socket"). I love this stuff, yeah let's "frwrap" attackers all night! *teeth begin to elongate*
The highlights of the acts were keyboardist-Beethoven and Brahms, dancing the Salsa, and West Coast swing-beautiful and sexy! One of Anne's former students gave us a pretty in depth lesson. My partner was 100% clear I was reading his mind, and we had a great time.
Then a self taught Harmonica player, a guitarist, beautiful...Leslie explained her "glass art" process and the making of a piece she'd brought with her. Two women read their own short stories and poems.
A couple of skits! All in all packed with talent and unique people. Just now, I am very blessed to have a wonderful group of people around me. I am included, safe, many are to timid to indiscrimmatly love, but I've got news for them-that's what's next! It shows up in every day and every way in my life. Perfect!
And so it is!
