A Swim in Cold Water
One of my passions is open water swimming. I swim in the San Diego Bay, without a wetsuit, and the experience is life enhancing
Date: 3/16/2005 12:37:19 PM ( 19 y ) ... viewed 1461 times Today I am writing from the heart-I've watched and participated in a couple of forums, i.e. Conciousness, Spirtuality, Depression, Cleanse, Raw Foods, Juicing, and Yoga.
What keeps coming up for me is that we forget to do the things we enjoy. When health worries, and relationship worries, money worries, life isn't looking like it supposed to worries crop up-and they do-many of us stop enjoying life...in fact to some degree if worry is persistant than we are not enjoying that part of our life.
I love to open water swim. The water is 57-60 degrees in winter and 67-70 degrees in summer. I feel so much better even in winter after I do a 1/4 mile or so, get out dry off and bask in what sun there is and go home get some work done!
I'm on the way to the bay now! It will be dicey getting in because I do not like to swim in a wetsuit-I will do it because I know I will feel 100% more alive when I am done. I am healthy and I thank God for this gift. But I work at giving myself the things that nourish me. Yoga 5-7 times a week, meditation, Religious Science Church, a swim in the cold water every so often.
Most of us are so busy taking care of life and those we love in life that we have made ourselves ill, and if not ill, then always balancing and trying to center ourselves under an onslaught of should, musts, and what nexts. Me too-It takes concious effort to really take your space and learn your limits even if somethings must be let go.
I know that some of the very health challenged are practicing self nuturing and giving behaviors out of necessity to heal. They got it! And are an inspiration to us who have health in our lives.
