Going for Seconds!
new fast
Date: 10/11/2011 2:51:23 AM ( 13 y ) ... viewed 2428 times I never keep up my blogs and diaries as well as I intend it seems. I did keep up the fast however, went about 40 days in the end, and with ease. It's been a few months since then, and I've started a second fast - I'm 14 days in today, and have had no food, just liquids - had a little broth 2x in the first week, other than that it's been drinks with Golden Pollenaze - only this time I had a bottle of Ninxia Red and some liver cleansing herbs on hand so have been taking these, and started eating apricot kernals - working my way up from 2 per day to 7, on 4 per day now... Found out how great they were for never getting cancer so I've started to include them in my day. Doing well, have been doing Yoga and back to the gym - Got down about 12 lbs on the last fast which hasn't come back - It seems to me that doing the long fast really set in the loss I achieved. After that I did go back to eating without really being all that healthy but it didn't seem to matter, the weight had been permanantly lost. I'm down another 10 now, but want to keep going - Would like to hit 150 and stay there, I'm 160 now... so that is going to take some time. I think going in stages, doing the one long fast, waiting a few months and doing the second... it seems to be going really well and it's just been very easy all in all - I've been practising fasting for so many years now it doesn't take much effort anymore and I don't lose much energy either, even deep into it. It's amazing how we adapt and how our bodies learn - I remember fasting early on being much tougher and going through a lot more. Haven't seen a lot of symptoms of detox even these last two fasts, perhaps I've already done so much I'm not very in need of it now. Not really sure - but I have done a lot of fasting these past several years.
One thing I've really learned, and have been soooo glad to discover is that some of the myths I previously believed and had read and heard over and over about fasting are just pure bs! It's been so liberating, came across some info to the contrary and it just added up totally when I considered it and has helped me tremendously - having the knowledge.
What I learned was that the stories about fasting eating up muscle more than fat, and slowing metabolism permanantly leading to weight gain and ongoing problems and yada yada is all rubbish really. The writer pointed out that our bodies do what they are designed to, and use up what they store (fat) first, only consuming muscle etc when this is all gone, which would only happen when starvation had set in - something that can't occur during fasting until body fat levels have been dropped to a very low percentage. I might post a link to the article, hoping that it helps others as it helped me :)
