tester Amendment in #S-510 was a Good Attempt
QUOTED HERE
The same cast of characters now seeks such control under the guise of food “safety”. Make no mistake, the FDA and legislation like S 510 is about food control — not food safety. If it were about safety, we’d be seeing legislation that banned concentrated animal feeding operations, that banned indiscriminate use of antibiotics, that banned pesticides and BPA. We don’t, because the FDA is not about food safety any more; it is a federal agency wholly captured by Big Pharma, Big Food and Big Chemicals.

Thanks, John, but what are we doing begging for our rights? I feel sorely disappointed in the whole system. We earn our livelihood at farmer’s markets and we’re having to find amendments just to save our skin! We’re giving more pow ... read more

DARLA DAWALD BIO NOTE
My Bio:
Darla Dawald is the National Director of ResistNet.com a Grassfire Nation website. Darla was like most Americans taking responsibility to vote in major Presidential elections and occasional local elections but after the 2008 Presidential election, Darla realized how many people did not take time to vet the candidates they were voting for and realized that she needed to delve deeper into the political process.

#S-510 Update: Watch for the Hail Mary Pass!!!!!
Saturday update December 18, 2010:
Asked about the status of
#S-510 FDA Food Safety Modernization Act.
during a morning press conference covered by C-Span,
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said:
"The good news is it is not dead,
the conversation is still alive on the floor of the Senate today."
Durbin said he is hopeful the measure can be included in
"the wrap up" of the lame duck session.
Those who want to see
the passage of #S-510, no matter what,
are seeking a Hail Mary Pass.
For those not familiar with football, we are talking about
a long pass down field with little time on the clock
that ends up winning the game. The clock is ticking.
For those on defense calling for less FDA and government
interference where unwarranted
and the birthright to have food be our medicine,
this is more about food freedom
than a limited definition
of Food Safety. Thousands upon thousands,
unreported in the mainstream press,
have formed a coalition against #S-510
crossing all party, religious, and philosophical lines.
We've monitored the current assault of Food Safety Bills.
They do more harm that good if the pass succeeds.

Here’s why:
+ Smart Meters pose known and unknown health risks.
When I first heard about Smart Meters, I had zero concern about SDG&E installing one of them on my house.
The only thing I thought about it was that the SDG&E PR Team had pulled off a pretty slick trick in getting people to go for a system that charged them more money pe ... read more
