On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights the full text of which appears in the following pages. Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration and ”to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories.”

How can this be?
Last week at work, a coworker returned from a nutrition workshop and stated that we radically need to change the foods we buy for our clients. He had learned at a the workshop that lard and butter have more of the so-called healthy fats in them than the trans fats, which the margarine we had been buying contained.

I did have a blog about the fun I’ve had creating a page on myspace here, but have decided to remove the myspace blog and talk about peace.
Peace can be achieved individually more easily than locally, nationally, globally, or universally.
Peace within must come first. This week I’ve been rather reactionary (sp?) about many situations I’ve found myself in. Life has not been particularly peaceful for me. I am often presented with conflicts at my job, for example. It is my choice how to react.

Like ”The Little Engine That Could”, I think I can try going to the Metaphysical fair in a nearby city again this weekend and maybe have a decent time. Months ago I wrote a blog entry about going to a fair put together by the same people, entitled ”In a Metaphysical Wonderland.”

A married couple went to the hospital to have their baby delivered.
Upon their arrival, the doctor said that the hospital was testing an amazing new high-tech machine that would transfer a portion of the mother’s labor pain to the baby’s father. He asked if they were willing to try it out. Both said they were very much in favor of it.

OK. This is amazing, but not really. For years, when I’m being, well, a bit negative, yet from my point of view looking at the situation realistically, I qualify my statement(s) by mentioning that I am, after all, a cynical realist. I thought I made the term cynical realist up. There aren’t many original thoughts in this universe anymore, apparently.

Most often, I steer away from celebrity-types and mass popularity topics. This is a 180 turn from my usual direction.
Visiting a blog entry by an author I enjoy, entitled ”Thoughts on a Rainy Night in Seattle”, I read a paragraph about Anna Nicole Smith that did somehow resonate with me. It made sense. I could keep this issue distant enough from me to speak about it in the third person, as if it all didn’t happen to me, but honestly, it did.
Well, it happened within 3 feet of me, although it was not specifically personally directed toward me.
